If you think the last 3 years of drafts were bad....

....check out the drafts of 1995-1997.

These drafts were as bad as the Browns and Jags drafts.

    Stinko.

My guess is those drafts reflect Cowher having attained more decision making power since he got us to the Super Bowl in 1995. I do find it annoying that the Steelers, as an organization, do not reveal who makes what decisions, so no one can be held accountable. It's all a big mystery. F that. We aren't allowed to know who is making what decision. That is BS. But those 3 drafts were really awful.

That was Tom Donahoe trying to be a genius.

I might agree with that. But I have a feeling Cowher had much more say by these drafts. In hindsight, even Donahoe's good drafts really came from his assistant, whose name escapes me. Once he lost that guy, his drafts were worse. Word is that Donahoe was never that insightful. Many say he was just an empty suit with an ego, but little substance.

As I look through the list there were some other real stinkers as well, but getting Ham in the 2nd, Blount in the 3rd and Webster in the 5th have to be some of the steals of a lifetime. Those guys get mentioned as GOAT at their position, whether they are or aren't doesn't matter, the fact that they are considered that is testament enough.

When I see Johnny Unitas in the 9th round and he ends up a Colt, that makes me ill.

Were the last three draft classes really that bad?

    2013:
    Jarvis Jones
    Leveon Bell
    Markus Wheaton
    Shamarko Thomas
    Landry Jones
    Terry Hawthorne
    Justin Brown
    Vince Williams
Nick Williams (injured out for season)
    *Brian Arnfeldt (UDFA)
*Nik Embernate (UDFA-injured, out for season)

    2012:
    David DeCastro
    Mike Adams
Sean Spence (injured out for 2 seasons)
    Alameda Ta'amu (starter for Arizona)
    Chris Rainey
    Toney Clemons
    David Paulson
    Terrence Frederick
    Kelvin Beachum

    2011:
    Cam Heyward
    Marcus Gilbert
    Curtis Brown
    Chris Carter
    Keith Williams
    Baron Batch
    *Weslye Saunders (UDFA)

Lots of starters in those drafts, not to mention plenty of good football ahead for a lot of the non-starters. Wheaton and Shamarko will play significant roles this season and if Spence and Embernate return healthy, even better.

My guess is that the people that make the decision are known within the organization and probably are held accountable to the Rooney's. Why is it any of our business as fans?
