The Steelers have signed punter Adam Podlesh to a one-year contract.

The Steelers have signed punter Adam Podlesh to a one-year contract, the team announced today. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Podlesh (5-11, 200) was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent the 2007-2010 seasons with Jacksonville and the 2011-2013 seasons with the Chicago Bears.

He has punted in 107 regular-season contests, recording 467 punts for 19,816 yards with a long punt of 76 yards. Podlesh has averaged 40.0 yards per punt in every single season of his career and has 157 career punts downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line in the regular season.

Podlesh has punted in two career postseason contests, both coming in 2007 with the Jaguars. He has five punts for 250 yards with a long punt of 54 yards in those two games.

I guess Brad Wing and Podlesh are going to battle it out. Probably will add a UDFA kid out of college too. Think they really want to improve the punting game and special teams?
Playing Fantasy Football does not qualify you to be the in the front office or on the coaching staff of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are professionals and you are not!

SOP to bring in a veteran camp body more for our returners to get reps then a camp battle but it never hurts to give a little test to our starter. His highlight will be punting that sixth punt to AB at Latrobe while he is holding onto the previous 5 punts. Fans get a kick out of that show.

Adam Podlesh 3rd in NFL with just 2 touchbacks last season. Ranked 13th with 27 kicks inside 20. Can't just look at avg w punters

Mesko/McBriar had 16 punts downed inside 20 last season. Podlesh had 27 with only two touchbacks.

Net average of less than 40 yards latest year and the Bears were more than happy to dump this guy. They had brought in multiple guys to work out to motivate him. Scooping up another team's trash.

Podlesh net, inside the 20 and touchbacks were all better than what Steelers ran out there in 2013

Wing and Podlesh are betting than what we had last year. Podlesh is better than Sepulveda any day (wish we could have drafted him instead of Sepulveda).
Round 1, Pick 15 (15)- Ryan Shazier, ILB; Ohio State
Round 2, Pick 14 (46)- Stephon Tuitt, DE; Notre Dame
Round 3b, Pick 33 (97)- Dri Archer, RB; Kent State
Round 4, Pick 18 (118 )- Martavis Bryant, WR; Clemson
Round 5, Pick 17 (157)- Shaquille Richardson, CB; Arizona
Round 5b, Pick 33 (173)- Wesley Johnson, OT; Vanderbilt
Round 6, Pick 16 (192)- Jordan Zumwalt, OLB; UCLA
Round 6b, Pick 39 (215)- Daniel McCullers, DT; Tennessee
Round 7, Pick 15 (230)- Rob Branchflower, TE; Massachusetts
