They're trying to make hay before they have to sign Wilson to his $100+ million dollar (more likely $120 million) contract and feel the pain that teams like the Steelers, Patriots, Saints, Packers, etc have been feeling for years. Signing that quarterback is a game changer for the front office.

I wish I linked to the espn article. They said he signed but new reports said Allen is waiting until the weekend to make a decision.
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher
Seattle probably could have won the SB without Wilson, as good as he is.
The Steelers would have won neither SB 40 or 43 without Ben. THAT, is the difference. Of course, each SB winner's respective competition that year is a major factor in being able to win it all. As are injuries (preaching to the choir to most here on the board).
But man, I live in Seattle, and as Pap mentioned, I can't wait til they start running out of money once they have to pay up for Russell.

we definitely started the trend. It was common for rookie QB's to play early on bad teams but it was unheard of to start a rookie on a solid team even if the vet QB was trash.
We used to argue all the time if Ben made the team or if the team made Ben. It's a little of both...
Nope... I know you underlined probably but hell to the no.
Russell Wilson is special... some guys have IT and he is one of them. Everywhere he has played he has willed his team to win games that should have been losses.
watching Ben on Dynasty Week last night when he was mic'd up was awesome... his sideline leadership is amazing. Watch Russell Wilson and you see the same thing. Some people have that ability to get everyone to believe in them and both of these guys are built the same way.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.
I think that's what he meant... and it's true. We don't get to 40 without Ben.
I think the same is true when you watch Russell Wilson extend plays and play ugly for 30 minutes but pull out a victory on a final drive. The kid is 15-1 at home or some insane number.
I don't like hearing people say "they could've won with any QB" because they aren't winning every other year with any other QB. This even goes for Dilfer and the other QB for the Bucs. While they aren't MVP ballers they still made the throws when needed and if it was that easy those teams would do it every other year with average QB's.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
