What if MJD doesn't get any other offers?
What if another team with no chance of winning offers him a lil mo money?

At least both sides know what the other wants and hopefully MJD calls us back if no other parties are interested or give him a better offer.
Why wouldn't the Browns give him a shot? They have endless cap space and no legit NFL back on their roster, I don't think.

The Steelers could have a very crappy team and still make money just like the Pirates. Bring in FA's to kick the tires on has Nothing to do with fans. And I think every fan and player knows the Steelers are looking for cheap signings in FA.

They signed ben Tate from the Texans to a two year deal.

OK, that gives them one legit NFL Back up RB; they sure could use more backs then that. I am sure they will draft one, but they are in the perfect situation to take a shot at MJD.

NFL rumors: Maurice Jones-Drew seeking $3.5 million per season

    BY JOSH SANCHEZ - MAR 20TH, 2014

Veteran free agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew hasn’t had any luck finding a new home nearly two weeks into the NFL free agency period, and much of that could be due to his high asking price.

After spending the past two days visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers before ultimately leaving the Steel City without a contract, reports surfaced that shed some light on just how much money Jones-Drew believes he is worth.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Jones-Drew is currently seeking $3.5 million per year.

Jones-Drew is clearly on the decline and he has very little tread left on his tires, so he will likely need to lower his demands if he wants to land with a team in time to prepare for the 2014 season.

Someone will pay him, but not $3.5 million.

Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Steelers in play for Maurice Jones-Drew

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 24, 2014

Free agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew’s representatives are expected to meet with the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins and Steelers at this week’s league meeting.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that those four teams are all interested in Jones-Drew.

So Jones-Drew has plenty of suitors, but the question then becomes, At what price? Jones-Drew is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons, having missed 10 games in 2012 and then returning in 2013 to rush for a career-low 3.4 yards a carry. At age 29, Jones-Drew’s days of getting paid a lot of money are likely behind him.

Jones-Drew is likely stuck accepting a contract without much guaranteed money, but perhaps with the possibility of making significant incentive bonuses if he returns to something approximating his 2011 form, when he ran for 1,606 yards.

It was only a couple years ago that Jones-Drew was one of the best running backs in the NFL. But if you’re a running back who expects to make a lot of money in the NFL these days, you’ll need to be the best in the league now, not a couple of years ago.
