    Alex Carrington

Just read that Alex Carrington will be in for a visit tonight. The Browns and Rams are also interested, but if he is healthy, he'll be a good fit and a potential starting solution at LDE. At 6'5" and 300 lbs, he has the prototypical size that the Steelers look for in a DE.

He was always a big want of mine on the dline. Good player that was just a horrible fit in buffalo. Not a DE there, tried him at OLB he was too big, he couldnt play DE because of Williams and Dareus. Would be a very underrated signing

this would make me HAPPY... would be a pretty good replacement, and an upgrade over Hood... though i'd still love to see Da Beard back, just for rotation purposes.

I posted in another tread he should be 1 of 3 the Steelers should be bringing in on the DL. The other 2 were Cam Thomas (NT) & Terrance Cody (NT). Cheaper FAs for depth & could push. Signing one of them would not change draft strategy.

Carrington + Keisel (1 year deal) would be solid.

He's solid. Good option at 3-4 DE .... was odd man out on the line in Buffalo.

Cleveland Browns are interested in defensive end Alex Carrington of the Buffalo Bills

    on March 12, 2014

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns Mike Pettine just might land himself a former Bills player after all.

The Browns, who inquired early in free agency about Bills safety Jairus Byrd, are one of two teams along with the Rams interested in former Bills defensive end Alex Carrington, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Byrd signed with the Saints on Tuesday night.

Carrington, 26, was slated for a big role in Pettine's defense in Buffalo last season before he suffered a torn quadriceps in week three and was lost for the season. Carrington, who started the first three games of the year and played 63 percent of the snaps in his final two, underwent surgery to repair the tear and was placed on injured reserve.

Bills coach Doug Marrone didn't try to hide his disappointment over the loss of Carrington (6-5, 301) after the injury.

“I feel bad. I’m not going to lie to you and sit here and say next man up,” Marrone told reporters in Buffalo at the time. “Here’s someone who has been very productive for the past three games and someone who is a very good football player. Here’s a player who has put in a lot of time, that’s been very consistent, a good leader for us and done everything we’ve asked him to, and unfortunately he has an injury.”

Originally a third-round pick of the Bills out of Arkansas State in 2010, Carrington has starting potential for the Browns if healthy. He came on strong for Buffalo in 2012 despite sharing the field with the likes of premier linemen Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams and Mark Anderson.

What's more, he knows the nuances of Pettine's hybrid scheme and could help install it here.

In addition, Carrington earned the nickname "Megahand'' from teammate Stevie Johnson for his club-record four blocked kicks in 2012, including one that preserved a tie and led to a Bills victory in overtime.
