Pittsburgh Steelers Pre-Draft Visitor Clemson Wide Receiver Martavis Bryant

The Pittsburgh Steelers have definitely brought in and talked with a variety of playmakers at wide receiver as they prepare for the draft. While they have all been different sizes, the latest prospect, wide receiver Martavis Bryant, to be added to the list of pre-draft visitors has an intriguing pedigree.

Bryant would be a tremendous addition to the Steelers offense giving the team the size they covet outside, along with the speed (4.39 40-yard dash) to take the top off the defense. A long strider, he has a deceptive mixture of deep speed and quickness off the line.
Not overly experienced, with only one-year of starting experience at Clemson, playing behind first-round wide outs Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins (Houston Texans – 2013) and is still refining his route running abilities. At this point, he is more of a deep threat than well-rounded receiver.

Solid athleticism with somewhat inconsistent hands, he suffers from too many focus drops and must improve that part of his game. He could also stand to get in the weight room and add some physicality to his 6-4, 200-pound frame. At this point, he would be a solid addition on the second day of the draft.

Baylor Running Back Lache Seastrunk an Option for Steelers Running Back: Fact

Baylor running back, Lache Seastrunk told Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he has a visit set up with Pittsburgh. Are the Steelers going to target the speedy running back? Makes perfect sense.

Pittsburgh is currently one running back short of the typical three they dress and play each week. Le’Veon Bell is the incumbent and locked in as a starter. LeGarrette Blount comes in as the battering ram with his massive frame.

This arrangement means getting a speedy change-of-pace line—Seastrunk would be the lightning to their thunder. The key to this has to be value. The 2014 running back class is deep, but not top-heavy. This means if Seastrunk could fall to their compensatory pick in the third round, Pittsburgh would have to seriously consider picking him up.

A third running back is a need, and Seastrunk fits the bill. This one is a FACT.

In a deep draft, I wouldn't take him on day two. But if he was available with our first pick on day three? Sure. Also quite intrigued with QB-convert Jerrick McKinnon at RB in the middle rounds.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Players Pgh having come in for visits

Would you really be excited if we drafted an OSU ILB in the first round? Is he really the best way to improve this team? With Williams, Moats and Spence in the mix, are we really best-served taking an ILB in the first? I know a visit doesn't necessarily mean they would take him, but you are only allowed 30 visits, so using a visit on a player does indicate interest.

Are we not much thinner at CB? This is Ike's last year. The league has turned Coo Coo for Coco Puffs with throwing the ball. I think I would be ticked if they took Shazier here.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/78578/ryan-shazier-among-three-visiting-steelers

PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers are hosting two linebackers for visits today, including a potential first-round pick, as well as one of the top all-around safeties in the draft.

Ohio State’s Ryan Shazier and UCLA’s Jordan Zumwalt are meeting with the Steelers at their practice facility as well Washington State safety Deone Bucannon.

Shazier has been widely projected as a first-round pick and the Steelers would be looking at the former Buckeyes star as an inside linebacker.

Shazier recorded 101 tackles in 2013, the third-highest single-season total in Ohio State history, and the 6-foot-1, 237-pounder has excellent speed.

The Steelers will almost certainly get only one crack at Shazier, as he shouldn’t get drafted any later than the early part of the second round.

“You could make an argument he’s one of the 10 best football players in this draft based on being a pure, instinctive football player,” ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said of Shazier.

Zumwalt also projects as an inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, and the former UCLA star is expected to get drafted in the third or fourth round. The 6-4, 235-pound Zumwalt recorded 91 tackles last season and intercepted a pair of passes.

He is a Tomlin type of player, and would be better than any of the three you mentioned by a long shot.

I honestly predict Williams would beat him out, having had gained NFL/LeBoo insanely complex system experience. I am not crazy about him. He is smallish. He took time to start producing. He is going to have a learning curve in the NFL and will not contribute this season. Would not taking a CB be better than anyone we have now? Surely, taking a NT would be better than anyone we have now. One of the OT would be better than anyone we have now. OSU always has superior athletes who end up not being that great as actual football players.

WEAKNESSES Lacks ideal size and bulk. Still developing eyes and instincts -- will diagnose and trigger more quickly down the road. Gets caught in traffic or engulfed by larger blockers when he hesitates to step downhill. Prone to overaggressiveness -- occasionally overruns plays or loses cutback contain. Could stand to improve his eyes, awareness, anticipation and reactions as a zone defender. Took some time to acclimate before making an impact.
