Kaboly report on Keith B defense

Says they there were doing a new drill where all the dbs read the Qb and break on the ball working on intercepting the qb, says it's a new drill that they never worked on before and that the young guys was actually picking a lot of them off. Also said they they were emphasizing on putting pressure on the passer another emphasis that never been done before under Dick L. Very interesting! !

He also said Golsen and the safety that they drafted who name escapes me, picked off the most.

that's not surprising, Golson and Holliman picked off 24 passes between them last season alone...

What is this craziness? Not playing soft and "tackling the catch?" Oh...I forgot we have a new Def Coord who may be willing to do things different.

Also pointed out an interesting fact, the last 10 SB winners were all ranked in the top half on interception with the exception of the Ravens who ranked 19 . He said under Lebeau that you knew every drill that was coming up.

This is what I want to see. Mitchell still says he doesn't care about sacks (which pisses me off). But, if the DC wants sacks and turnovers, and is working to create more, I am thrilled.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

In today's NFL, with the rules slanted so heavily toward the offense, getting turnovers is paramount. If Golson and Holliman turn out to be head and shoulders above the other DBs when it comes to this, they might find themselves getting a lot of playing time very quickly in Butt-ler's D.

(I know, "head and shoulders," kind of funny for a couple of smaller players.)

Somehow have trouble believing that LeBeau never emphasized putting pressure on the passer. I think he did it when he had the personnel to do it. Also fail to see the significance of "under LeBeau...you knew every drill that was coming up". It's practice. What difference does it make?

Didn't Gay jump routes last year, sometimes with good results, one time not so good ( right before halftime as I recall)? Was he coached to do that or just freelancing?

When will you ever learn that Lebeau was a hack and had no idea how to coach a defense? At some point you'll understand that he was really the village idiot and had no idea what drills would work to make a player better, how to install a defense, and how to use personnel.

Here's to a new dawn and hopefully one that has the Steeler defense back on top of the pack as a feared defense, they will need it, because the offense, while potent, will be inconsistent as we have seen for many years.

I'm there with you. "Old, stale and predictable" isn't the recipe for success in the NFL. This is Butler's big opportunity and you know he isn't going to be complacent. He will want to make a splash and will be aggressive.
