What I witnessed tonight was a dominant front 7 can make any CB look good in the stat line. Did the CB's shut down the WR or did the front 7 make them look good? Regardless... when a CB can benefit from a pass rush AND catch the ball he has a greater impact on the game.

Yep. They were in Manning's face the entire night. He had few clean lanes in which to throw. He was being hit on every dropback. He was completely taken out of his game. I am going to make a prediction that Manning doesn't get back to another SB. He can't throw downfield anymore, his arm is weak, weak, weak. It's all about YACs for the Denver offense and a defense that can tackle can beat that offense.

Seriously..... It sounds like he's trying to make a case for himself being considered "the best". Ike has had a very good career but he's not even close to Sherman or Revis'. Ike's best year doesn't match Sherman this year. Dream on Ike...

I like Ike's confidence... players are supposed to think they are the best regardless of the writing on the wall. He should have kept this to himself though during SB week.

Ike is good... but he isnt that good. Ike and Sherman benefit from playing on teams with a great pass rush when they were in their prime. The difference is Sherman is catching the ball when its thrown his direction.

I have no idea who covered AJ Green in the playoffs but he was held to 3 catches for 34 yards vs San Diego. While its nice to have that stat he still won't be in the convo for best CB if he doesn't have INT'S.
This was not Ike's finest year, although he was playing very well prior to that game. The point is that CB must be graded on a curve. You can't just look at a CB, look at his numbers, and the numbers he gave up, without adjusting for the difficulty of assignment. Ike routinely has a tougher assignment than almost every corner in the league, and has done that for the better part of ten years.

Up until the last few games where Ike was staying on his side of the field. Not sure if that means DL's agreeing Ike is in decline or that he now trust Tez just as much.

No curve for Ike. His decline forced the Steelers to take away his assignment of taking the best. Gay & Allen were better CBs than Taylor & that won't change moving forward.

Exactly... that's why Ike needs to take a drastic pay cut... or be cut...

We need to pick up a free agent corner who can step in and play as good or better than anything we have right now... if we are going to be competitive this year. Safety doesn't concern me as much.. assuming we keep W. Allen and draft a Safety in the early rounds. A quality FA would be nice there also.

What you have to give Ike credit for is he is an ironman in the defense. While he may not be a Revis, the last two years he has matched Revis in INTs and has double the number of passes defensed.
Revis, like any other bright star, may tend to burn out quickly. Let's see how he is doing when he hits 35 yrs old. Ike isn't the Ike of 5 yrs ago, but he is a lot better than many CBs in this league even at his age.
