NFl at the time. But you knew when a guy had terrific leadership skills – he was a captain of the team and you know when a guy has ‘it.’ You knew Mike Tomlin had ‘it,’ so that’s why it was so easy for me to recommend him.

“I saw what he was as a player, how he led the team and how the people just gravitated toward him. There was no doubt in my mind that he was going to be a terrific coach. That’s the understatement right there.

piece taken off the Gazette this morning, but I'm sure you will disregard it.

It would be nice if we had a little room under the cap. Because such a coach would be a nice draw for FAs.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Have to disagree with the assertion that BB is average without Brady. Some hefty kuddos have to be heaped onto the turd for keeping his team competitive year in and year out with the amount of attrition he's experienced over the past 6-8 years or so. No one has done a better job in the NFL of stockpiling picks in the first and second rounds through trades of their veteran leaders, than the Pat's FO... having Billy boy contend with that much subtraction and keep a team gamefully in the playoff hunt is an accomplishment. This year how many did they have on the IR and still make it to the AFCCG... I know Brady counts for a lot, but who did Brady exactly have to throw it to this year? Whatever team they face, BB does a great job of gameplanning against the particular opposing team's weaknesses. He's still a turd and a cheat... but I'm not going to negate his "above average" coaching prowess.

I must agree with the angry man. As much as some may dislike and downgrade BB's accomplishments. It has been nothing short of amazing how he can take teams crippled by injury...devoid of talent and make them competitive. I believe that has impressed me more than the years where the Pats were stacked and they won.

When you play in the AFC East , and have the only Elite QB for the last 15 years is a little bit easier. Can anyone name a QB in that division that have been at least average over there. And have had a stable coaching staff. Every staff are changed every few years. But take it father if you think BB is a genius , then Tony Dungy should be considered one also. Same circumstances Elite QB, bad division 11+ wins for years straight but I bet if he went to that same division now even with Andrew Luck that won't happen.

Don't get me wrong BB is a good coach but Genius, nope I pass and don't forget the little ref/NFL help from time to time.

And by the same logic as far as injury goes many should call Tomlin a genius to lose a starting QB the first 4 games Or the injuries he had to deal with year in and out and still be able to win 12 games in four seasons playing in a tougher division. Tomlin is a good coach but I wouldn't call him a genius.
