Just read on another site, the Steelers may have an interest in Carolina Panthers offensive line coach Ray Brown and could be asking permission to interview.

Mike Munchak was just fired too but I doubt he'd take a job as a positional coach. It'd be interesting though.

Just goes to show how we don't know everything going on behind the scenes.

I am about 80% sure I read somewhere at the beginning of the season that Bicknell actually came out of retirement to coach the OL because the Steelers were looking for someone with his kind of experience. If true, it shouldn't be all that surprising given the OL struggles that he is going back into retirement.

Offensive line coach candidate Ray Brown worked with Sean Kugler in Buffalo

With a not-so-close connection to the team, it appears Brown's experience in 2010 with the San Francisco 49ers, helping mold two rookies taken in the first round, make him a viable candidate for the Steelers' open offensive line coach position.

The Steelers are reportedly interested in discussing their offensive line coach vacancy with Panthers assistant OL coach Ray Brown.

Brown, perhaps not surprisingly, was an assistant to former Steelers OL coach Sean Kugler in Buffalo in the 2008-09 seasons.

Two main characteristics that stand out on Brown's resume in reference to the Steelers' job are his experience in dealing with fluctuation (Carolina has had turnover and injuries along its offensive line like the Steelers have) and the development of young talent.

He was in San Francisco in 2010, where he helped mold rookie first round picks Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati, the latter being an All Pro level guard now. Considering the youth of Pittsburgh's offensive line, Brown's candidacy makes sense.

The Panthers are declining to allow Brown to discuss the position now, but a report indicates they will when the Panthers season is over. They are the No. 2 seed in the NFC, and will play their first playoff game next weekend.

Brown played in 265 games over his career for four different franchises, the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals, Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions. His last start was in 2005 with Washington, losing to Seattle in the NFC divisional playoffs.

He would seem to be the logical front runner based on the article from Dulac. Has there been any mention of him, or is the focus on the assistant coach from Carolina?
