Keisel's agent has stated that his client won't work for "minimum wage", which is something he would most likely have to do in order for the Steelers to be willing to re-sign him.

After June 1, he could change his tune...

Id imagine the market for Brett isnt very big, hes very valuable to us i think, but i think hes gonna have to play for cheap or hang them up

'Minimum wage' may be a bit insulting for him. He might need to accept a reduction in salary but lets be real, he is way better than anything else we have available to us at the moment.

He will need to take a big reduction if he still wants to play. Considering he isn't on any other team, that tells me he isn't very highly around the league anymore, he's overvaluing himself or he wants to retire a Steeler regardless of if its retiring this year or after 1 more season (if signed).

Are you forgetting about Heyward? He is quite possibly our best defensive player.

Total speculation but in an interview this past week, Heath Miller was talking about when he was a younger player looking up to old veterans and then he mentioned Keisel and said, " he's not here right now". As in, he'll be here in the future...

Also, notice how the Steelers did not give any new player 99? Saving it for its owner?

Give it up people Kiesel want be back unless we have an injury. Like Dulac pointed out that once the Steelers part ways with older guys they never return, just like Hines, Casey, Farrior, JH and the list goes on.

Being prone to injury is an age factor, so why sign a player if he would only see limited action.

For a vet who has been in the league over 10 years, I think it's sniffing towards almost a million bucks ($880k?). It's not like the minimum is still just 250k. If you were Kiesel would you play for $900k? That's not chicken feed. But an NFL season is no bowl of cherries. It's a grind. It means waking up Mondays barely being able to walk, for most linemen I would think. Every play is a car crash. I guess it also depends on how much coin he has saved.
