    merril hoge sure sounded confident

that haley would be gone at the end of the season.
he was on espn this morning and was asked about ben's comment regarding running the ball and how he said 'ask haley'.
theres been rumors the last 2 years about the rif between those two but i didnt take it too serious. i have alot of respect for hoge and believe him when he talks. i also have to believe he has some inside skinny to steelers situations.
i think this offense is coming around. add a stud te and big wr and get the line healthy and i think we could put up some points next year. hoge makes me think haley will be the scapegoat for tomlin and the teams downward spiral.

I get what your saying with Hoge and he isn't one to cry wolf. I just don't see why they would allow Haley to exit so quickly especially since the offense has improved in it's second season. Add to the fact that a new OC would put us back especially with an aging quarterback. Add to the fact that someone would have to admit that, they made a mistake hiring Haley. Not saying they made a mistake getting rid of Arians. The thing is, the receivers on our team seem to fit into Haleys type of offense than Arians now that Wallace is gone. Only if Arians would have mixed things up just a little bit and called plays that would have kept Ben from getting sacked so many times when defenses would start coming after him.

I agree with you both. Haley is the least of this team's problems. I see Lebeau being a much bigger issue. With that said, if there are player issues with Haley, if there is indeed a disconnect...you may see Haley gone to shake up the locker room environment and give many fans what they want. Fans expect changes when a Steeler team misses the playoffs. This move will protect Lebeau for one more season, and the Rooneys will look like they are doing something about the situation. As much as people might think Tomlin or the Rooneys run this team...they don't. The fans run this team. If fans sell tickets, stop buying gear and hit the team in the pocket book the Rooneys will be reactionary.
    Trolls are people too.

I agree with Lebeau being the biggest problem but so is Haley. The only time this offense moves and scores come mostly from no huddle.

I don't think the fans run this team. They Rooney's may say all the right things with their appreciation of the fans but, they still listen to their own voices. Lebeau is a sacred cow so I believe they will try the magicians trick with having you look one way with their trick of firing Haley while the real deception is keeping Lebeau. This teams real issue is a lack of talent, coaches getting out coached and not drafting and developing correctly. I was all ready for Cowher to leave three seasons before he did but outside of a quarterback up until Ben, he knew how to put together a team, keep them focused and fought as well as he could. I don't remember Cowher getting the pressure about Noll as Tomlin does about Cowher. Any thoughts on that ?

Let's pretend Haley is gone and Dick is asked to retire. Is there anyone out there Ben will get along with? Is there any OC who's going to risk his career by turning over complete reigns to an aging and banged up QB? Just something to think about, has Ben gotten along with anyone outside of Arians who gave him the famed 'chuck and duck' offense? Just thinking out loud here, none of this is fact or an opinion.
ours is not to wonder why just invert and multiply...

The OC that Ben have had all come across as being azzzzholes besides Bruce. As long as Fitner or Kirbyville gets the job Ben would be fine.

Personally, I'd go with Fichtner if Haley were to go the way of Bruce Arians...

In his offense at Memphis, they were able to pass the ball AND run with Deangelo Williams...

I'd probably go with another o-line coach, too, but he may get another season...
