    I know it's the correct call, but

    A player, while diving into the end zone, takes two head shots causing his helmet to fly off and you take away the TD. The NFL has some f'd up rules. Once again, I know the correct call was made, just venting now.

    Ironic that the Ravens benefitted so greatly from that play and from Ngata rolling out Velasco's knee (cost us a time out).

    I'm hoping the Velasco injury isn't serious, but the offensive line looked like it's finally been clicking and then an extra play changes all of that.

    It's a joke rule. Yes the play is dead but it isn't offering Bell any additional protection. The defense is still attacking in mid-play.

    Don't like the rule...I think you should have to place the ball where the runner hits the ground...seem common sense if he's going down.
    It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust & sweat & blood...

    I think it's a misinterpretation of the rule. yes the play is dead when the helmet comes off, but like completing a catch you have to take the whole play in context. I believe the rule is more for a RB who loses his helmet yet is still actively trying to gain yards. It's a protection rule and a good one. but when bell lost his, he was simply completing a motion started BEFORE the helmet came off and they should have ruled him down and the play over not at that precise moment, but when he came to a stop.

    this gives incentive for helmets being ripped off purposely.

    In this case it's kind of ridiculous, because, the back is still in mid-air and the potential to be hit again still exists. IMO, the rule is dumb, it's a darn football game, sometimes the helmet comes off as a result of a tackle, sh!t happens. Give the guy the TD he earned, get the medical teams on the field to check the players and move on. You can't take the violence or the contact out of a tackle football game. The more they try to protect the players, the less and less it looks like a football game.

    So my question is this: "If they're protecting the players, where were the flags and or ejections for leading with the crown of the helmet?" Bell's helmet popped off because he was hit helmet to helmet not once, but twice on the play.
