Roethlisberger Says He’d Take Discount To Stay With Steelers
    November 20, 2013 7:35 PM

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday that signing a contract extension with the Steelers for below his market value would be something he’d be willing to do.

“Obviously, I would do whatever I needed to do,” Roethlisberger said, “but that’s something that can be discussed when the time comes. And that’s not really my thing. I play football. I have people that deal with that stuff, so I’ll do whatever it takes to stay here and to be a part of this team and to help this team out.”

The idea that Ben was unhappy with his current contract began with an NFL Network report by Ian Rapoport that cited sources within the Steelers organization, and elsewhere.

When asked if he is happy with his current contract, Ben responded, “I love being in Pittsburgh. I’m extremely happy. These [reports] are obviously new. Every week it’s something fun. JCo [Jerricho Cotchery] asked me today what’s the new rumor this week, so we’re always excited to see what Ian’s gonna make up this week.”

The Steelers (4-6) travel to face the Cleveland Browns (4-6) on Sunday.

New news to me. Good, I hope he'd take a cut..that's the only way he'd stay with the Steelers, at this point.

Seriously i can't understand why there isn't a cap limit for single players anyway. It's just totally silly to have one for the entire team but not for individual players. No player should earn more than 10 million if 52 others have to share 120 million.

Keep the talk going Ian!!!! It's only gonna make Ben prove he's worth a bigger contract. Ben's needed to play with a chip on his shoulder. And I think it's finally back!!!!

Yeah, I love that part. Just made Rappaport look like the incompetent idiot he is.
