    Injury Report (Wed)

Guard David DeCastro (ankle), nose tackle Steve McLendon (illness), cornerback Curtis Brown (not injury related) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) did not practice Wednesday.

DeCastro, according to Jim Wexell on Twitter, is walking without limp and said his ankle feels good.

Guard Ramon Foster (concussion), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related) were all limited Wednesday while guard/tackle Guy Whimper (knee) and linebacker Lawrence Timmons (hand) both participated fully.

Ed Bouchette said on twitter that Sean Spence was back doing drills today.

Any reports on a possible timeline for Spence's return?

I did read somewhere he hurt his hand doing drills. Not sure of the severity, but it must not be too bad if he's practicing. Ed Bouchette said in his Tuesday chat that he expects Spence to go on the PUP.

Woohoo! This is a lost season. We need the pillars of our team (guys like Decastro) to get good experience this season, at the very least.

This year is a wash. No sense to rush Spence back for a losing season. The experience would be nice but he needs to be 100% physically first so he can potentially play to his full potential next year.

Ramon Foster Still Must Pass Concussion Test For Steelers

According to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ official website, Ramon Foster is listed as “Probable” for Sunday’s game against New England. Although he suffered a concussion during Pittsburgh’s 21-18 loss to the Oakland Raiders last Sunday, the team’s staring left guard has participated in practice the last three days.

While he was “limited” on Wednesday, the former Tennessee Volunteer was a “full participant” in practice yesterday and earlier today. Despite the positive news regarding Foster’s status, Pittsburgh’s doctors cannot clear him to play this weekend in Foxborough until he passes his concussion test tomorrow according to Jim Wexell of SteelCityInsider.net:

    James C Wexell @jimwexell
If LG Ramon Foster fails his Saturday concussion test, as Jarvis Jones did a few weeks ago, Steelers would be down to Mike Adams in reserve.
    1:59 PM - 1 Nov 2013

In the event that Foster cannot pass his test and is unable to play against the Patriots, the Steelers’ brass might have to promote rookie UDFA Chris Hubbard from their practice squad to provide some depth if Cody Wallace and Guy Whimper are in fact the starters at the guard spots for Sunday’s game.

Both Wallace and Whimper have played sparingly this season, and Whimper is coming off of a knee injury he suffered last weekend in Oakland as well. Adding an untested player like Hubbard or Joe Long, a fellow “practice squadder,” would definitely be a “break glass in case of an emergency” move for the 2-5 Steelers.

If Foster is actually shelved for Sunday’s game, then Pittsburgh will only be left with Mike Adams and Wallace as their offensive line backup options when they head to Foxborough. With David DeCastro already deemed “out” for this weekend’s contest, Pittsburgh will already be thin in the offensive trenches and Foster’s absence would represent another tremendous blow to the already makeshift unit.

    Patriots Injury Report

The New England Patriots Friday injury report has changes on it and one of those include defensive tackle Tommy Kelly (knee) being ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Kelly had returned to practice this week but had a setback after being limited on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Questionable for the Patriots are CB Kyle Arrington, CB Aqib Talib (hip) and RB Leon Washington (ankle) and all three were limited in practice on Friday. TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm, hamstring) and WR Matt Slater (wrist) practiced fully on Friday and were listed as being probable.

TE Michael Hoomanawanui (knee) and S Tavon Wilson (hamstring)were removed from the injury report.
