You're talking to a wall. In his mind, the team is managed well and is really good and Ben is the only one bringing it down.

Again, that number may be skewed...

A pick 6 counts in those numbers against the defense...

A turnover by the offense inside their own red zone counts against the defense...
Again, no one is letting the offense off the hook, but the defense isn't very good.

I get what you are saying but I figure that with the defense not getting any turnovers and providing the offense with a short field it is a wash. It might be skewed a little but again the game comes down to points scored vs. points against. A close analysis of both of those shows we stink.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

    but Go Steelers!!!

That is a laughable comment by Polian. Typical of the media these days...

You can pick any game this year by Peyton and that is better than Ben against the Vikings. Brees against Miami and the Bears were better than Ben against the Vikings. Brees against Miami was just ridiculus.

Let's put Polian's comments into the context in which he was making the statement about how impressive Ben was in the most recent debacle. Polian is saying Ben played great because he was under duress from the first snap and the fact that he was able to make plays was incredible. He wasn't saying that Ben was carving them up like Manning, Rodgers, Brees etc while standing in the pcket like he's waiting for a bus.

In Polian's context, Ben's game was pretty amazing, from a playing the quarterback position and making decisions context, not so good.

So can most every other team in the league. Welcome to parity.

Some people actually watch the games and don't just look at the stat sheets. Put Polian's comments into context and it's hard to argue with him.

I watched the games and I'm saying that Peyton and Brees are throwing darts and making amazing reads. Ben not so much. Ben's o-line sucks but he doesn't get a free pass because he's still missing a ton of reads and making poor decisions. Does he make plays? Certainly. I would sure hope so from a 100 million dollar QB.

I don't put Ben in the same class as those two and some others. He takes to many sacks and it's not just the o-line. He makes to many mistakes....some that result in turnovers, some that result in sacks and some that result in punts that shouldn't be punts.

Is this Polians first time seeing Ben play? He's played much better with OL's much worse IMO.

If every QB was exactly the same, playing in exactly the same circumstances, then Ben wouldn't stand out compared to some of the more 'traditional elite' type QB's like Manning & Brees.

But that's why football is great- not every situation is the same, and 'gamers' like Roethlisberger can be extremely successful with different skill sets when put in the right situation.

Unfortunately for the Steelers, what we currently have is not the right situation.

The OL during Ben's career have been victimised & abused by every quarter of the football community. But let's just think about this for a second- in Ben's career he has been the constant, not the OLinemen, who have been constantly shuffled to get the best mix of players up front. No amount of high round draft picks has made the situation better.

Either the Steelers can't judge talent to save themselves, or Ben's style of play makes the OL look bad statistically.

Personal opinion only, but no investment will be 'high enough' to get the Steelers OL sorted out with Ben behind center because he takes too long getting the ball out. Ben is a risk/reward type QB, not a time control QB. In Chadman's opinion, if the OL can run block & give Ben enough time to 'magic' up a few big plays, then they are good enough.

The best thing the Steelers could do for Ben & the OL is get a big play WR along the lines of a young Plex, or an AJ Green, Julio Jones type guy & let Ben throw into double coverage on reverse, end around,fake-off,double pump, trip over Gilbert, step on Pouncey, wriggle out of 3 sacks & slip out to the left before throwing designed plays & be done with it.

Watch Ben light up the scoreboard in that situation.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.
