I agree with Bouchette, this reeks of desperation. If it's an improvement, its not much of one. Giving up a pick for a guy who should be no better than a back up is problematic. We need all the picks we can get.

This reeks of braindeadness.
Picking up a questionable player at high cost -- and 2 weeks later they may be none the better in skill and worse off in cap terms.

The least they could do is negotiate the price.
