That's right. That's why he gets paid more than anyone else on the team.

Hate Wallace all you like, love Brown all you like- the Steelers still need a go-to WR that, when Ben needs a quick outlet, he can throw to, even when covered.

How many passes didn't go to hand against the Bengals when covered one-on-one? Compare that to how often Green caught those 1-on-1 catches. Think of how many sacks, how many lost downs, how many missed yardage gains this team has as a result.
    Bingo. You are so right!

The only guy I felt he had ANY confidence in doing so was cotchery, who didn't come through. But he was targeting about 10 times last night. You can tell he has a rapport with him in practice. Too bad they come up short (literally and figuratively).

It is not as simple as "we should've drafted DeAndre Hopkins in Round 1". The draft is all about value. If we do pass up on Jarvis, who would we have gotten in Round 3 (the round we selected a WR, Wheaton)? Jarvis was a very good value at our pick in Round 1, and Wheaton was as well in Round 3. DeAndre would've been selected around the point where he was valued, = good value. Would we have gotten good value in Round 3? That's the question.

We got very good value in both Rounds 1 & 3. Only the short-sighted would question that.

Passing on Hopkins for Jones is only 1 option in a range of potential options over the last 3-4 years. It's possible that Mike Wallace's success disguised the overall need for a #1 WR target, because he certainly did help both Brown & Sanders with getting open.

Individually, all 3 of Wallace, Brown & Sanders would be good complimentary WR's to an AJ Green. But none of the 3 are genuine go-to guys.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.

Some of these moves will come back to haunt us.

The defense was # 1 last year. So they to out and draft a LB.
at least Jarvis is starting though.
But receivers and eifert was there. Apparently cincy Didnt think it was a big deal to have 2 recent first round TEs on the roster.
And to boot. Next years draft has smaller WR types at the top of the class. But I'm sure they'll be an OLB or corner in the top 10. Yeah. More defense

the defense was One of the best the league has seen in 08. And the offense was average with a crap OL. so they go draft zig hood (to back up for a couple of years) When the 1st or 2nd best center was on the board and Justin hartwig was the starting center. Drafting unger puts us in position to draft dez or d Thomas the year we select pouncey

Another year goes by and the steeler D is once again near the top of the league and the offense is rated just a little above average. What does the FO do? Select another DE after watching its last 1st round DE take essentially 3 years and an injury for him to start.....Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

This Teams needs Heath Miller on the field (or any kind of real threat in the middle of the field) 100x's more than they need DeAndre Hopkins. They Also Need Wheaton to get more Reps..
    Then maybe we can run.

I agree Shawn. The problem with our receivers is that our best three (Sanders, Brown, and Wheaton) are all similar slot type guys. We need an outside the numbers receiver with size who runs great routes and has enough speed to get a safety to commit to double teaming him. This would leave Brown, Sanders, and Wheaton in single coverage.

As far as the Hopkins vs Jones debate, Jones has shown some flashes so far. It is ridiculously premature to say we made the wrong decision in drafting him.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

We needed Jarvis Jones more than a first round wide receiver. Antonio Brown is our #1 and we got a speedy receiver in the third, Wheaton.

Fans are complaining about no TOs or sacks on defense...

The FO agrees...hence, Jarvis Jones in round 1...
