I was also interested in this Chadman. I found this.

Tunck Ilkin at Steelers.com says in regard to how quickly Valasco can pick up or offense, it's all about the terminology and how similar it is to ours, but that Ben or Foster can call out the defense. Hopefully he's a smart guy and can pick it up quickly.

If he can hold a block for 2 seconds, he'll be an upgrade immediately.

SteelersDepot has a great article about Valasco showing 5 plays of him against the Bengals going up against Atkins & Peko he looks good.

Thanks for the pointer. He looks pretty solid to me. Wonder why TN cut him?

The Titans gave Valasco a 2nd round tender for 2.03 million before the start of the season. They then sign Free Agent C. Turner and also drafted some kid in the 4th or 5th rd. Valasco was a final cut and many where suprised by it. I think it came down to money. Mike Munchak of the Titans had nothing but good things to say about Valasco and was glad he found a job ,that he new he would. I love the way he stand's Peko up on one of those bull rush's. I dont think we'll have much of a drop off from Pouncey who struggled this preseason.

Believe it or not, this might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I know the Steelers will suffer at first, but it sounds like we picked up a solid OLman. Which means we might slide him into Fosters spot (who got abused by TN) next season.

And you jumped all over Chadman's next point- next season, with the return of Pouncey, the Steelers suddenly have the flexibility of either retaining Velasco & removing Foster, or sticking with Foster if his play improves...

Great signing the more I hear about him. And personally I am not going to give up on a season b/c Pouncey went down.
