Allen was solid when Troy was out last year...the $ saved by cutting Troy loose would have gone a lot farther toward a rebuilding program than the $ saved dumping Allen.

I could handle not signing foote going into season if Sean Spence is healthy. I don't have a problem with the 1 to 2 million dollar veteran signings... it's the 10 million a year guys that are a year away from being gone... that really has me scratching my head.

Should have kept guys like Kenan Lewis, Will Allen, etc around and got us a "Real Tackle" to protect Ben's blind side

Never understood the dislike of Mendenhall. Quality back. Sure could have used him today. Even Dwyer would have been okay. Issac Redman is the worst back in the NFL.

why is there a choice? If we are truley in a rebuilding mode, and trying to get younger...why not cut the injury prone Troy loose? When's the last time he came close to giving us a 16 game season?

because a mediocre Troy is still a beast. I'll grant you the 16 game season argument. When he's on its no comparison. I'm willing to take that 3/4 or 1/2 of the season. I would prefer a full 16 but I have just come to the understanding that is not possible. I'll take the percentage he is on the field demonstrating the way the Steelers defense is played as "teaching". Hopefully some teammates watch and learn.

They should have kept Allen. He was a solid backup who is lighting it up tonight as a starter. I like Thomas, but you keep Allen around until he's ready. (Good riddance to Mundy.)

He could have been had for a fifth of Ike or Troy's money.

My non-scientific recollection of the past two or three seasons (ever since the Denver playoff game season) is that he is better at getting burned than making great plays.
