Teams that have made roster moves in advance of Tuesday’s 75-man deadline have stopped short of going all the way to the new deadline. The Steelers have decided not to waste any more time.
    A
flurry of moves puts the Steelers at 75, with six days to go until the team cuts to 53.

    Linebacker
Sean Spence, who suffered a severe knee injury during the 2012 preseason, has been placed on the team’s reserve/physically unable to perform list. He’ll be eligible to return to practice after Week 6 and through Week 11. The Steelers also have placed guard Justin Cheadle and cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke on the waived/injured list; if unclaimed by another team, they’ll revert to injured reserve. Rookie defensive end Nick Williams has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Finally, the Steelers have released tackle D’Anthony Batiste, running back
Baron Batch, tackle Mike Farrell, receiver David Gilreath, receiver Tyler Shaw, cornerback Ryan Steed, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, tight end Peter Tuitupou, quarterback John Parker Wilson, receiver J.D. Woods, and running back Jeremy Wright.
    hmmmm....Batch and Sylvester released.....

Steelers Make Roster Moves; Trim Roster to 75

    Posted 1 hour ago

The Steelers made 15 roster moves today, reducing their roster to the league-mandated 75 players prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline.

The Steelers have placed linebacker Sean Spence on the team’s Reserve/Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) List. In addition, the team has placed offensive guard Justin Cheadle and cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke on the team’s Waived/Injured List.

The Steelers have released offensive tackle D’Anthony Batiste, running back Baron Batch, offensive tackle Mike Farrell, wide receiver David Gilreath, wide receiver Tyler Shaw, cornerback Ryan Steed, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, tight end Peter Tuitupou, quarterback John Parker Wilson, wide receiver J.D. Woods and running back Jeremy Wright.

The Steelers have also placed rookie defensive end Nick Williams on the Reserve/Injured List.

The Steelers conclude their preseason slate at the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium.

Pittsburgh must reduce its roster to 53 players by Saturday at 6 p.m.

I'm a bit surprised that he did not survive the first round of cuts. I thought that he would be in for a fight to make the final 53, but figured he would easily make the first cut.

Anyone think Derek Moye will make the 53? I liked what I saw from him. He could be that tall body in the corner of the endzone for Ben. Very athletic guy.

No real surprises here. Batch was odd man out after the F Jones signing. Sylvester can't stay healthy. Gilreath?... well just too much good talent at WR on the Steelers right now.

He has alot of competition, of course, and I think Justin Brown could win the 5th spot. It might come down to special teams ability.
