If the FO has to constantly overrule Tomlin on various aspects of football operations, then they need to do one of two things:

1.) Stop meddling and let Tomlin run the team the way he wants.

2.) Fire Tomlin and get a coach they think is better, and let the new coach run the team the way he wants.

Bad things happen when management and ownership try to get involved in football operations (see Dallas Cowboys and 2012 Steelers).

Exactly. If Tomlin allowed Art II and Haley to walk all over him? He's a puppet.

Okay, but that doesn't excuse the FO for meddling too much. Either let Tomlin run things his way, or fire him and look for a coach they think can do better.

Perhaps they don't feel that any coach could do it better, but still want things done their way?

So you're saying they just want a head coach that is a puppet.

Not a great way to run a football team.

they had an agenda with the rooney rule.
im sure tomlin was told what his capacity would be when he took the job.
the rooneys have allowed him to make a few decisions on his own to see how it worked out(oline, special teams amd wr coach hires) but the important ones(firing arians and hiring haley) was done by the owner.
they are grooming him slowly to figure out what he is capable of doing and what he isnt.
just a smart business move by the owner with some serious on the job training.

    Apparently so.

Narcissistic injury is the term used for any threat to a narcissist's outsized ego or self-esteem.
