Mike Wallace prefers Dolphins' culture over Steelers'

Based on real estate choices alone, it doesn't appear Mike Wallace believed he had a long-term future with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wallace never bought a home in his four seasons in Pittsburgh, preferring to work off a series of six-month leases at fully furnished apartments.

Wallace now is house hunting in South Florida after signing a $60 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency. It's a fresh start for the dynamic wide receiver, who points out that the feeling around his new team is much different than his previous one.

"Everybody has a college mentality around here. It's a lot different than where I came from," he said, according to The Miami Herald. "Everybody's hungry. Everybody wants to get better, get to where we need to be -- that's a winning record."

Did complacency settle in with the Steelers in Wallace's last season? We're sure Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin would disagree.

I'm not going to take it defensively. I can see how one might see a lot of what has been going on in Pittsburgh as complacent. But I would take whatever this guy (maturity) says with a grain of salt.

Quite the non-story IMO. He says that the Dolphins are hungry for a winning season. They are more of a ground floor opportunity. We are nowhere near hungry for only a winning season.

Perhaps that "college mentality" explains the Dolphins lack of success as a professional football team. I hope it continues for as long as Mike is "back in college" in Miami.

Seems like Mike has found the team he wanted that won't demand too much from him or expect too much. It may help him keep his focus all season long without that stress.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

Not one of the brighter bulbs in the marquee, is he? Maybe one of the first to burn out (once the speed is gone). Can't wait to see Cortez or Ike shut him down into a pout.

If there was a problem with the Steelers' "culture" last year, Mike was the biggest part of it...

Stonio isn't a cancer in NYJ... he is the least of their problems.

    This is true...

He is just way overpaid compared to his level of production there...

Is Santonio a bust, career-wise? He's had ONE 1,000-yard season in his career. Just one. He's had quite a few 500-900 yard seasons, which is productive. And of course, he had that run in the playoffs capped by the SB catch + MVP.
