I had Jones in my mock... production on the field, he's a playmaker. Strips the ball a lot, which hasn't been mentioned much. The biggest thing i worry about is "run support". As a pass rusher, he'll be fine. At times, he seemed to struggle with getting off blocks on the "direct/off-tackle" play. Fast-pursuit ILBs better rock!!
I agree. Didn't agree with the pick but hope he is the next Lawrence Taylor.

My biggest concern is that while he is relentless going after the passer, I don't see that "10 yard" burst where he explodes into the backfield. He seems to have a high motor but one speed.

Or like we used Woodley as a rookie.

Also re: 1st OLB taken in the 1st by the Steelers. Wasn't Timmons drafted as an OLB?

Robinson looks like a relentless pass rusher, but we wouldn't let him play because all he can do is pass rush. Jones is gonna have to do more than rush the passer in our system. I believe he will be able to.

Is he older than Worilds already?

I guess I have some of those same questions about him being able to fight through blocks. Just watching his highlights it seemed like he didn't have to win physical battles the way that Deebo or Woodley do. Obviously, DL and Mike Tomlin know a lot more about this stuff than I do so it's probably nothing.

I heard from someone that he had 88 QB pressures to go with all his sacks. This kid is a machine in the backfield. He's gonna force a bunch of bad throws. Now there's 2 logical steps that should follow. Get a NT to collapse the pocket and make it easier for Jarvis to get to the QB deep. And then get a play maker that can intercept passes in the secondary.

How bout Hankins/Williams and then Amerson?

Guys. I wasn't pro Jones. There were other people I wanted before him. But the guy is wearing a Steelers helmet. You have to put your personal preference aside and hope the Steelers made the right call. You can't hope for a bust if you are a Steeler fan.

    +1

I was on fence regarding this pick but i think Steelers made a right choice.

Steelers needed a pass-rusher. I think Steelers made the right choice. I feel good when Steelers made the pick without wasting time.

Now Steelers also need some help on Offense to score TD. So hopefully a WR or RB or TE in Rd 2 or Rd 3.
    Steelers Draft 2015
Rd 1: Devante Parker - WR/ Kevin Johnson - CB
    Rd 2: Danielle Hunter -OLB
Rd 3: Steven Nelson - CB
    Rd 4: Derron Smith - S
Rd 5: Henry Anderson - DE
Rd 6: Wes Saxton - TE
Rd 7: Deon Simon - DT

I would never have considered Jarvis Jones...but, only because I thought he would be long gone before #17...

Honestly, if I had to choose straight up between Barkevious Mingo and Jarvis Jones...I would choose Jones...

As was said earlier, this pick might just light a fire under Woodley's butt this year. I hope that he comes into camp in shape, and ready to tear it up.

If he comes in fat and lazy, and is riding the pine with bad hammies, we have a stud that we can put on the field to replace him - maybe permanently.

Knew this crap was coming. How do you know they won't chop Woodley down to size after this year?
    Here comes the BOOM!
