    The Texans Select:

    DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson

    tumblr_m9q932pEtO1r2ct63o1_500.jpg

    Strengths (from nfl.com)
Presents good height and length for an outside receiver, also has some lower-body strength for explosion off the line of scrimmage and in his cuts. Solid route-runner used in the short, intermediate, and deep games, who has flexibility to avoid corners in zone and the quick feet to separate on hitches, comebacks, and other cuts. Does a nice job creating separation and deceiving defensive backs with head fakes and quick moves. Will threaten the top of defenses with NFL-quality straight-line speed. Possesses strong hands in traffic, not afraid of contact downfield and can separate at the last second with an arm extension. Agile enough to quickly avoid oncoming defenders after the catch yet remain balanced to head downfield for the big gain. Does not go down without a fight, can run through arm tackle attempts from cornerbacks. Snatches throws with his hands, even those within his frame. Concentrates on the ball throughout difficult catches and extends his long arms to make a big radius. Sells double-moves well with a head fake and body lean. Very good body control to contort his body on catches and pluck the ball out of the air, keep one foot in-bounds on the sideline. Effective run blocker, usually reaches his target and gets his hands up, uses correct blocking angle to sustain; also shows some nastiness at times, capable of putting his man to the ground. Consistently productive over his time at Clemson, improving his stats each season

    Weaknesses
    (from nfl.com)
Only average size for a starting outside receiver and has room to add bulk to his frame. Occasionally loses track of the ball on easy catches when trying to make a move too early. Must prove his ability to use his hands to beat press coverage from NFL veterans off the line. Dances around defenders and run backwards after short catches at times, losing his balance or some yardage, instead of heading upfield. Will need to be more consistently physical in the blocking game at the next level.

The Broncos are on the clock and waste no time in getting their card to Commissioner Goodell...... With the next pick in the 2013 draft and while looking at many players here including ND's Manti Teo, and Alabamas RB Eddie Lacy, the Broncos decide on beefing up their DL and pick Lacy's teammate:

    Jesse Williams NT Alabama

    williams.jpg

The 6'4" 325 lb Defensive Lineman from Alabama will fit in nicely with Denver's base defense.

Williams, born on Thursday Island grew up in Brisbane, Australia. He goes by the nickname The Monstar.

Denver can also use him at FB down inside the 5 yd line, where he played some while at Alabama....

    Welcome aboard, Jesse.

    ****Trade*****

New England does not have many picks so they trade down four spots and pick up a fifth and a sixth rounder. They trade # 29 to Jacksonville for #33 & Jacksonville's fifth and sixth round picks.

Jacksonville selects Matt Barkley QB USC. Jacksonville has long sought a franchise QB. Many consider Barkley the best Qb in this draft. Barkley has lots of big game experience in a pro style offense. He is ready to challenge for a job now.

Jacksonville couldn't believe that Barkley was still on the board. They feared another team leapfrogging them to get him. So, they made the trade.

Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

By now you've probably figure out that the Falcons select...

Corny Carradine! DE Florida State University. Even though Carradine tore his ACL late last season. His recovery is going so well that he should be ready for full contact by training camp. At 275 pounds and 6'4, CC has great size. He also has a great burst to the QB, and elite flexibility for his size. Many think his ceiling is much higher than his teammate Werner's. Carradine produced a lot of great tape at FSU and registered 11 sacks this past season. Carradine is very disruptive and is a quick twitch athlete. If his knee is healthy, he should start as a rookie.

I can neither confirm nor deny that Corny is a member of Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity.

BB and NE select Kawann Short DT Purdue University. Short is versatile. He can play NT and 3 technique. He is very strong and shows surprising short area quickness and flexibility. Short was often double and triple teamed in college, and still produced. With Wilfork commanding the double teams in New England, Kawann will find great success as other teams try to block him with just one man.

Kawann paused briefly from his lunch to speak to BB Today. This is how the conversation went.

    K, "Hello?"
    B, "Kawann?"
    K "Yup."
B, "This is the Supreme Commander of Foxboro. I order you to cease and desist from the following: Smiling, showing individualism, having opinions, sharing information of any kind with anyone at all, joviality, and pleasantly answering questions at press conferences. The following behaviors are permitted: Douchebaggery, looking constipated, humping your secretary, humping your nanny, inseminating hot chicks out of wedlock, inseminating hot chicks in wedlock, secretive filming, goofy dancing at Carnivale, plausible deniability, and eating cheese. Welcome to the New England Partiots."

Rara's hasn't made his selection for the Niners, and now 2 teams have leapfrogged his late first round pick, so it is time for me to make a pick for him. However, then the Niners will be up again with their early 2nd round pick acquired in the Alex Smith trade. I will leapfrog that pick twice with the Eagles and Lions, before making my section pick for the Niners, and then moving onto Chicago, getting us back on schedule.

The Niners lost Deshon Goldson to free agency, so they could use a safety to start next to Donte Whitner.

The San Francisco 49ers are proud to select:

    Florida International safety Jonathan Cyprien
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

In the first round, new Eagles coach Chip Kelly was tempted by Geno Smith to bring his new offense to the pros, but opted instead for the guy he knew in Dion Jordan. With only Geno and Barkley off the board at this point, Kelly can pick a QB here in round 2 to learn from Vick as a rookie (filling in whenever he is inevitably injured this year), then possibly take over the reigns full time in year 2. Nick Foles does not see to be a fit for the Kelly offense, so he may be trade bait during the draft (the real draft...we can't trade players in this mock draft).

The Philadephia Eagles are proud to select:

    Florida State QB E.J. Manuel

Detroit filled their need for a OT in round 1 following the retirement of Jeff Backus and the free agent loss of Gosder Cherilus. Now they need DE to replace the departed Cliff Avril, and they've also needed an upgrade at corner forever. Time to check their draft board to find the highest rated DE or CB that presents the greatest value here.

The Detroit Lions are proud to select:

    UCLA DE Datone Jones
