I would prefer Kellen Davis as a stop gap.

Good God Waste of Speath returns?
So we only have cap space for players like Speath. I'll tell ya Chadman K-Mart is almost looking good right now, seems were trying to put a team together shopping at the flea market.
Should have given Ben permission to talk contract with the Cards.
He then agrees to a contract.
We then release him.
Then we make a trade for "future considerations" to get the draft picks from them.
If we are going to gut this team anyway, do it right.
Art II has ruined this team.
I've seen you post this in several threads now, Crash. One major problem: The NFL no longer allows teams to trade for past or future considerations. That was outlawed nearly a decade ago. If they let Ben go to Arizona, they'd have to trade for actual present day value --- actual picks or players that are identified now. Plus all of his signing bonus would immediate accelerate into this years cap, negating any ability to gain any cap flexibility. So they'd be in just as bad a shape cap-wise AND have no one to play QB and looking at a horrible draft for QBs this year. Lousy plan.
I never thought Spaeth was that good of a blocker...
"Spaeth received what might be a misleading grade from Pro Football Focus. Of the 62 graded tight ends, Spaeth ranked seventh overall. He caught only six passes for 28 yards and one touchdown, but PFF ranked him as the No. 1 run blocker for the position in the NFL and the 16th-best pass blocker. He is effective on the edge as a blocker and the Steelers know what he is capable of doing."
