you also have to consider crabtree. Doubtful they would want to pay two big money contracts to WRs.
or maybe they just didn't like him enough as a player. I don't know.

But the ONLY team he could sign a contract with was the Steelers. Compare Wallace's conduct to that of Lamar Woodley prior to the 2010 season. Woodley was under contract to play, but he was only going to get $550,000 and because of the uncapped year the Steelers couldn't sign him to an extension. So how did Woodley behave? He kept his mouth shut, showed up for all OTA's and training camp, played his butt off and helped get the Steelers to the Super Bowl. He showed what being a Pittsburgh Steeler is all about. In comparison to Woodley, Wallace was a selfish, whiny little b**** that hurt the team.
Wallace also kept his mouth shut and reported for duty when he was expected to. He impressed the coaching staff with his grasp of the Offense when he rejoined the team and went on to be the top producing Steeler WR for the year. He did this didn't say a negative word about a fellow WR that got the big contract and showed up to camps etc, yet still didn't have Wallace's production.
Next year's comp picks could be sweet.
Wallace should get us a 3rd or 4th rounder.
Starks, Mendenhall, Legursky, Foster, and possibly Hampton could all garner later picks. I believe you can only get 5. It'd be great to get a third, a fifth, a sixth, and a couple of sevenths. Yeah 2014 draft!.
In the spirit of going overboard, here is my 2014 mock draft!
1 Anthony Barr OLB UCLA
2 Shane Skov ILB Stanford
3 Jordan Matthews WR Vanderbilt
3 Antone Exum CB/S Va Tech
4 Jimmy Legree CB S Carolina
5 Eric Ebron TE N Carolina
5 Alfred Blue RB LSU
6 Antwan Lowery OG Rutgers
6 Dri Archer WR Kent State7
7 Brandon Dunn DE Louisville
7 Scott Crichton OLB Oregon St
7 Adam Muema RB San Diego St
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.
For one season, 2012. In 2011, after he signed his big contract, Woodley had 9 sacks in 8 games before the hamstring injury against the Patriots (which was the 8th game), which lead the league at the time. Given Woodley's exemplarary conduct prior to 2012, I can forgive the "lazy, fat, sloppy and unproductive" effort for one year. Believe me, he wasn't the only Steeler to play sloppy and stupid last season. In fact, Mike Tomlin coached sloppy and stupid last season.

Two very different circumstances. Wallaces was restricted to negoitiating with the Steelers. That doesn't mean he MUST sign whatever they offer him. What he did was well with in the rules and a tactic that Franchised players use all of the time. His conduct during the season is a different matter.
Woodley was under contract and could not hold out without getting fined. Besides that, he COULDN'T have gotten an extension because it was against the league rules at the time.
What did Woodley do once he got paid? He's been out of shape the last two years and it has led to injuries. Woodley is not a model citizen despite your claims.
Here comes the BOOM!
well, whatever team gets wallass will certainly skyrocket up the offensive charts.
according to many of the wallass lovers here, he produces huge numbers, opens up the offense for the rest of the team and will be sorely missed and basically irreplaceable for the steelers.
seeing he propelled us to 20th in the league(give or take a few spots) every year he was here that the steelers will certainly drop 5-8 spots without him and the team that he goes to will jump 5-8.
We value RINGS.
When Detroit or the Cards win JUST ONE, talk all you want about the Steelers.
Stupid teams will always overpay for flashy receivers.
The Cards paid Fitz the big bucks and let Boldin walk. Boldin has a ring while Fitz got jack squat.
Why is it smart to pay elite money to receivers again?
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher
