I'm down too. Mike is going to make bank in a big way and I congratulate him for it. I really wish it could have been with the Steelers.

Regardless of how anyone feels in regards to Wallace, that 'danger' he brings, coupled with the 'danger' that Mendenhall could provide- guys that were a threat to score from any point on the field- is going to have to be replaced, or at the least, compensated for. The Steelers offense, regardless of the skill of the individuals still on the team, is not as dangerous next season, as it stands.

If the Steelers cannot find a 'threat' or 2 to opposition defenses, the Steelers are likely to see a compressed field, making the dink & dunk Haley offense that much more difficult to execute.

    Next year might be tough.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.

Add to that a Defense that is getting older and going to possibly lose some talent as well. The team will need the Offense to actualy score more and as it appears now, they will not be in a position to be any better than this year.

    Tough indeed...

On the flip side, football is about the trenches. What if we could solidify our OLine and Ben/Haley get on the same page and get into a rhythm which seemed to be where they were headed.

I still think BPA at 17 might be a top OT that's too good to pass up. If we got a top tackle and the line started crushing it, any old WR/RB will do.

We were ok with Hines/ARE/Ced and FWP as our weapons for XL. We just need Ben and a Defense and we'll be fine. If we can start protecting Ben with a better OLIne and play calling, that may be all we need.

FWP was a home run threat unlike anything this O will have without Wallace or Mendy. For XL, we also had the Bus and not just "a Defense," but one that made splash plays.

wallace never deserved the animosity he received here. Speaking in his defense resulted in accusations of "manlove" and invitations to follow other teams.

the reality is that wallace did exactly what you are supposed to do in this league. Put up numbers each and every year.

he isn't any more to blame for not being a steeler as the FO in this one. Sure would be nice to have some of the ridiculous money they handed to willie colon right now.

That's fair points Flip, and the last thing Chadman wants right now is for this to desolve into another Wallace/Brown argument.

Having a dominant OL is great, but at the same time, that's 5 guys. If the WR's & RB's pose no threat to strech the defense, they'll chuck 8 guys in the box, and regardless of how good the OL is, that's tough to counter.

Even tougher when your star RB might be J Dwyer, who is a marginal starter.

The Steelers will need to create some kind of threat to opponants defenses, just to spread the field out a bit & allow them to take advantage of the 'agile' WR's they have in Brown & Sanders, and give guys like Dwyer & Redman as much room as they can to succeed.

It was 'easy' to spread fields with a guy like Wallace. Easier if you could compliment that with a dangerous runner (which Mendy was, prior to 2012). Now the Steelers need to find that threat from somewhere, as both those pieces are moving on.

You couldn't be more wrong. How obvious was it that he was a bad apple and had a bad attitude last year? How obvious was it that he wasn't giving a true, full effort? If you couldn't see that, I am not sure your eyes work.

Free agency nor the draft have even started yet, and we are already assuming we will have no players who can stretch the field? By the time kick off of week one, we will have both a WR and RB who have more speed than we do right now.
