Ben's always said the perfect thing since he was drafted. And guys have always said he wasn't the best teammate or leader. So I wouldn't be surprised if Ben has good intentions, is trying to be a leader in his own way, and is trying to rationalize some of the stuff as not a big deal.

And from Ben's perspective, it's probably not a big deal. And this is probably why guys don't perceive him to be a leader because I doubt the other guys are making stuff up. And Ben comes off as set apart from the others guys on the team a bit.

I don't think anyone means any ill will here. Everyone perceives things the way they perceive them. There's the Ben way and then the everybody else way.

Honestly! I wished they would all stfu....... If Ben wants to lead, LEAD! Have a meeting at your house. Work a little closer with your teammates during the offseason. Conduct yourself in a manner in which your teammates will respect and want to follow you. I would have loved if Ben would have acknowledged that there were some problems and he and his guys are going to work dilligently during this offseason to correct some things and work on team chemistry. But all of this grandstanding, telling me the sky is green crap, is fruitless!

One thing I am still waiting to hear Ben say is something along the lines of embracing Haley's offense, being excited to get back to work because they were doing good things in that offense, second year in that offense things should be more fluid...something of that nature....

If Ben was half the leader that he is now trying to conveniently portray himself as, the locker room wouldn't be in this much disarray and players wouldn't be speaking out so recklessly, as they are. I don't know what Ben does but I can tell you if he was doing anything as far as helping and leading his team, you bet he would be telling the world about it as he always does.

It is Ben's nature to down play any negatives as all little stuff he can overcome with his late game drive to win a ball game. One of the major components in all this is that Ben can no longer be counted for game-winning drives anymore. Starting with the SB vs. GB he has failed to deliver. All he needed to do in order to make last season a play off year was to win just ONE game vs. EITHER Cinci or Dallas and he hell short. In both cases, the game was right there to the taking and he didn't deliver. Worse yet, he threw game-losing pics at the end of both games; he was the opposite of clutch - he was FAIL.

Now, you can live with a cocky, lazy, screw ball teammate who always delivers in the clutch. Even if he is a jackass, you tend to live with it if he is Mr. Clutch. But once that same arrogant guy starts not pulling off wins in the clutch, all of a sudden, you resent his annoying traits more and more. All of a sudden, the "what me worry" persona isn't cute anymore, because the rest of the team knows something is broken and the bonehead, carefree "gunslinger" is irritating. They no longer can count on him to pull wins out, so his downplaying the issues isn't cool any more. And unless he finds his clutch gene again, it might never get truly fixed. Men will follow leaders of men, but they won't follow a guy who is undisciplined, arrogant and cocky who no longer produces. We don't know how this will fall, but it should get interesting and possibly frustrating.
