I don't understand your disdain for Whisenhunt. After all, he was a big part of a SB winning team.

As for Gay, he was released because he had an escelator clause in his contract that paid him as a starter if he was starting games. Gay started last year and was due a salary bump as a result. If he had not hit the incentives, he would be paid as a nickel back, where he is actually somewhat effective.

I would only make this move if Tim McKyer isn't available.

If we need to cut Ike in order to re-sign Lewis, then bringing back Gay on a vet minimum to be our nickel corner would make sense (he always played his best as a 3rd CB). Keenan Lewis and Cortez Allen starting outside, William Gay handling the slot receivers in nickel and dime packages, and Curtis Brown and Josh Victorian contributing on special teams and as the 4th and 5th CB's (then maybe draft a guy in the middle rounds to compete with them...someone like B.W. Webb from Tomlin's alma mater William & Mary). That's not a bad corps of CB's overall.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wowzers! There is so much wrong with your post here, I don't know where to begin. "William Gay handling the slot receivers", and Curtis Brown on defense (I shudder at that--Special teams he's fine).

Does anyone remember how porous our secondary was when Ike was hurt?
