Legalize pot, and criminalize booze--guess what becomes your gateway drug? Addictive people will find a way. It's not marijuana; it's just people who are weak (in that regard), and they would get addicted to whatever it is.

With regard to the Honey Badger, I'm like someone else (previously), who said they aren't upset about the pot use... more so about what would get him dismissed (it's gotta be more than smoking dope).
Ignorant..really? Well I don't think you can deem something ignorant that has been backed by research.

"The vast majority of cocaine users (99.9%) began by first using a “gateway drug” like marijuana, cigarettes or alcohol.

Dub,
Ignorance is not necessarily a bad word... I'm simply using it in this case, as in "not knowing". You really need to know the history of marijuana (i.e. hemp) in this country, to realize why it is what it is in this country (illegal). When you do, you will gain a better sense of: a) its effects, and b) the forces that seek to demonize it.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Regardless ones opinion on the controversy over pot, bottom line is that if you are too mentally weak to abstain when your college or pro career is on the line THAT is a red flag.

EXACTLY... getting kicked off LSU takes hard work and dedication. I dn't have a problem with a person who has a hit on their resume.... but when you get a hit, get kicked off the team and CONTINUE to get in trouble it raises a red flag.

I think that's exactly how the Steelers will look at it.

I would agree with that 100%.

As for the HB, I would take a chance on him, anywhere after the 3rd. At that point, the chances of anyone sticking long-term goes down a lot anyway. With him, I think he has a lot to prove and the best time to have him on your team may be when he is fresh out of school (i.e. before hubris takes over again).

Cigarettes and Alcohol are not gateway drugs as long as your old enough to buy them... legally (more details on this below)

Marijuana *could* be a gateway drug for one reason and one reason only.

It's illegal (in most states) and if you want it, you typically have to buy it from a drug dealer. Guess what? It's likely that drug dealer has other drugs for sale. That is how people are exposed to the "harder" stuff and are much more prone to trying it. Cocaine, Crystal Meth, Heroin, Oxycoton (pharmaceutical), etc are all extremely addictive. A dealer will have no problems offering you any of these for free the first time just to get you hooked because they're not stupid... You getting hooked on any of these is a helluva lot more profitable for them compared to marijuana. I guarantee that if marijuana was legalized in some form, the gateway concept would go away.
Tomlin: Let's unleash hell and "mop the floor" with the competition.
