    Ike vs Lewis

Not sure the cap ramifications if we cut Ike, but would you do so if it allowed us to keep Keenan Lewis? Would you attempt to trade Ike? Would you cut Troy if it freed up the money to keep Ike and Lewis?

Not sure Lewis will be worth the money he'll command on the FA market. Promote Cortez, draft another CB.

Just think if they'd locked up Lewis last off-season, instead of extending Brown last year. Then we'd have Lewis under contract in 2013, and Brown would be a RFA..

    Other- 4

Ike is due to make about $9.5 million in 2013...if I understand it correctly, even if they cut him before the season, he will still cost about $7 million vs. the cap. Don't see them cutting him this year.

If the Steelers let Lewis go, it will be one of the biggest mistakes the team has ever made.

Keenan and Cortez are the most promising young defenders we've got. No one can afford to allow young talent to get away.

Problem is, the Steelers may not be able to afford to keep Lewis, what with all the big $ contracts they've taken on.

Troy has to go, bottom line, in my mind. One of the best Steelers ever but we have to look at next season, not the past. We can't let Lewis walk.

Agreed. As much as the Steelers would normally make sure that this was a player who doesn't slip the net, circumstances may not allow it this time around.

The Steelers need to drop around $16m to get under the cap- but even if they do that without cutting anyone, they have 42 players on the roster. They need to find cap space for a further 11 players.
