Ben's torn rotator cuff....

Ben Roethlisberger previously told reporters he injured his throwing shoulder last November in a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

But it wasn't until Wednesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback specified the damage done in that division clash.
"I'm good. It's OK, just sore," he said when asked about his arm injury, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I have a little torn rotator cuff. That doesn't heal. We just have to hope it doesn't tear the rest of the way, according to Doc," he said, laughing.
Roethlisberger insists his arm is strong and the injury isn't limiting him. He is taking measures to protect the shoulder, however, cutting out throwing during walkthroughs, something he used to do "all the time." He chalks the scaling back of throwing as a natural part of getting older. He turned 30 in March.
"It actually feels great," Roethlisberger said. "I don't have any pains anymore. Let's just hope it doesn't get any worse."
The understatement of the year in Steelers Nation.

So dipstick Ben supposedly gets a torn rotator cuff in November of 2011, that is bad enough that it still bothers him when he reports to training camp in 2012 due to it being 'sore'....then during the 2012 season he gets hammered onto his left shoulder causing broken bones and injured shoulder....so what can we expect for 2013? Will the dude come in with a fully rehabbed shoulder or can we expect him to be jacked up upon arrival for camp where one tackle on his shoulder could end his season? If the dude ends up missing a portion of this season, and playing some of the games after coming back at nowhere near 100% hurting the teams, is it time to say we need to look for the next QB? If your car breaks down leaving you hanging for a quarter of the year for 3 years in a row, you would be out looking for a new car!

I agree Qb is a need but this is a very weak QB class.

Other experts say half the veteran QBs out there have a tear in their cuff. Ben is always looking for ways to showcase that he is so super tough, AND has an excuse at the ready in case he fails. Other than his rookie season, when HASN'T this been the case? Mystery broken toe, shoulders, knees, you name it.

I can't relate to that type of mentality at all. The whole 'look at me, look at me' style....

I hear ya...and agree. We need to grab a guy but drafting any QB will be a reach this season.

I'm not saying that Ben doesn't have a flair for the dramatic when it comes to his injuries, but I have 2 problems with your assertion.
1. Do you think that he is calling press conferences to annouce his injury status, or is otherwise bringing up the topic without being asked about it specifically?
2. The above quote was from an article first published in August 2012. I'm pretty sure he wasn't coming up with a viable excuse, in case things turned south.
