I thought it was spot on. Particuarly, this:
"And therein lies the problem with then Todd GayLey offense. It’s not much different, AT ALL, from the Arians offense. This ****bag offense still relies almost exclusively on Ben improvising, out of his ass, in (and out of) the pocket, along with a vast array of incoherent, grab-bag plays"
There is a lot of focus on this board about Arians vs. Haley and Ben v. Haley and an outdated focus on the running game, etc. But from my couch, I've seen us win despite both Arians and Haley due largely to Ben's unique talents. The jury is still out on Haley and the fumbling and injuries have really hurt this team so he deserves more time before a definitive judgment can be made.
But so far the offense still has this disjointed ad hoc quality to it that it had under Arians. Too often, it seems like we are dialing up random plays like a stoned kid playing Madden instead of following a solid game plan and choosing plays appropriate for the scoreboard and down and distance. Just my take.
My favorite nicknames:
Mike Wallace - The Clanger
Some good descriptions:
Keisel – tried a new tackling technique, whereby he used NEITHER arm
Foote - on an early 3d & 1, Foote literally got 1-handed SHOVED by DeMarco Murray for 6 (SIX) yards – as Foote just backpedaled and offered no resistance -- on an 8 yard gain. For anyone but a Steeler fan, this play was as laughable as it gets in the NFL.
Victorian - I guess we should grudgingly give Vickie some credit. He can’t tackle and he can’t cover, yet he’s been able to fool enough NFL “experts” into giving him a $20K per week paycheck to do a job he’s incapable of doing. Brilliant.
Said that in the chat and on here. Who the hell just sits there and watches the guy land with the ball, then get up and run? WTH?!?!
On the INT in OT, The Clanger just STOOD THERE, and WATCHED the DB land on the ground and then get up, WITH THE BALL.
