    What south side bars

should a couple 40 year olds and their wifes go to on Saturday evening/night?
We dont want to dance, just drink at a relatively laid back bar with good drink prices and decent bar food.
We are staying at Station Square and usually party there but want to try something new(new also meaning not paying out the arse for drinks)

I haven't lived in Pittsburgh for about 15 years, but if it's still there, I vote for Jack's. We always referred to Jack's as the bar where the women and beer are cheap. It's the best place to start by far. It's where all the locals would go. It's the first bar closest to Station Square.

I'd start there and then just walk down the street and stop anywhere that looks fun. There's a ton of places to choose from.

Since you have your wives, take a ride up the incline and if it's a nice evening have drinks outside at the Grandview Saloon. My favorite is just the view of the city from My Washington. Just soak it up. Pittsburgh is fantastic and it the perfect time of year to soak it in.

I would have mentioned Fatheads as well. Used to hit Jack's but that may be a touch younger crowd. Mario's Saloon is another choice that's been around for a while. The Hofbrauhaus if you need a German fix. And not South Side, but probably a 5 minute cab ride into town - The Church Brew Works is a very cool place. Pub menu and nicer entrees as well. Old church turned into a brewery.
