Tomlin might not have been happy with the return game, but does anyone remember the state of affairs with our STs BEFORE Everest arrived? I happen to think he did a good job turning around a previously sorry unit that seemed to regularly give up big returns.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have terminated the contract of special teams coordinator Al Everest, the team announced today. Assistant special teams coach Amos Jones will assume all of the special teams responsibility, effective immediately.

“We are continually evaluating our coaching staff and support staff, and we have decided to go in a different direction with respect to the coaching of our special teams,” head coach Mike Tomlin said. “I want to thank Al for his contributions and efforts, and I wish him well in the future.”

Everest joined the team in 2010 as the special teams coordinator.

Tomlin was disappointed with the return game? Didn't Brown make the pro bowl last year as a return man?

I was thinking the same thing... Brown's jersey is in Canton for having 1,000 yards returning and 1,000 yards receiving. Something stinks...lol

Everest did turn around an awful unit. When Ligashesky was the ST coordinator, the coverage teams and return units were abysmal.

My suspicion is that this has nothing to do with job performance.
