Starks is a much better player than the haters ever have given him credit for. It is not a coincidence that the OL stabilized when he came back last season. If you can't admit that you just don't want to because it was obvious.
Playing Fantasy Football does not qualify you to be the in the front office or on the coaching staff of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are professionals and you are not!
And why was he cut? Because he ate himself off the team.
2006? Showed up at almost 400 pounds.
2007? Began the year on the bench.
2008? Began the year on the bench.
2011? Began the year out of work.
So obviously Max Starks' isn't the most "favored" guy in that organization, and it's mostly because he often reports for work out of shape.
As does Jonathan Dwyer, but you feel that he should be able to unseat Redman if given a legit chance (I don't).
Personally, I'm less concerned about out-of-shape linemen (all NFL linemen are considered to be "obese" by traditional measures), and more concerned about out-of-shape running backs (who should be elite finely-tuned athletic machines).
As does Jonathan Dwyer, but you feel that he should be able to unseat Redman if given a legit chance (I don't).
I also stated, that if Dwyer shows up overweight in July that he could get cut.
As far as talent? An in shape Dwyer IMO is better than Redman. 235 pounds with quick feet and and can cut.
Redman is basically a straight ahead runner, and that's it.
Wow. You do have a terrible memory...
Huntley was famous for getting out in the open field and running until he ran out of gas short of the goalline...
Redman, on the other hand, if you actually watch him, is very elusive...
Once he is past the LOS, rarely does a defender get a good shot on him...he is elusive enough for people to bounce off of him and he can break arm tackles, which is something Mendenhall struggled to do...
Is he elusive in the same way as Chris Rainey might be? No...
But, that doesn't mean he only runs straight ahead and is easily tackled...
Watch. He is plenty elusive...
I think Redman and healthy Mendy can be a dangerous combination behind good O-line.
I like Dwyer but i question whether he has desire to be successful. I would not be counting on Dwyer.
Redman-mendy-Baron batch would be my top-3 RBs. It will be interesting though if Redman can produce with same efficiency this season. Opponents will be watching him more carefully this season with Mendy PUP bound.
