Many questions remain up in the air about Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon in the wake of this weekend’s arrest for aggravated DUI, but we now know that he’s pleading not guilty.
Blackmon entered the plea on Monday in Oklahoma, per Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. It is a misdemeanor charge, which means jail time is unlikely for Blackmon. He could still face suspension or other punishment from the league, however, because he had a DUI while he was in college.
Blackmon was arrested early Sunday morning and blew a 0.24 on a breathalyzer test, three times the legal limit in Oklahoma. He was also speeding, just as he was when he was arrested in 2010.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 24th. That’s three days before the Jaguars are scheduled to open up training camp. Blackmon’s case probably won’t interfere with his availability for camp, but that’s likely of little solace to the Jags at this moment.
