If Arians AND BEN were more interested in playing THAT type of game, Arians would still have his job.

If Ben averages 50 passes a game? Todd Haley will be fired by Art Rooney II.

Because Art wants the running game.

you still fail to recognize that Art wants an EFFECTIVE running game. I don't know how many times people have to tell you that. He doesn't want us to have first and goal at the 2 and have to settle for a FG because on 1st down we run and lose 2 yards; then on 2nd down we throw the bubble screen and get to the 1 yard line; then on 3rd down we run again and get stuffed so we have to settle for the FG. Now according to you Art would have wanted us to run the ball all 3 times in that situation. According to the rest of us Art wants us to score on the FIRST running play. Therein lies the difference ... I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

    but Go Steelers!!!

Do you think Tomlin would really have such a lack of control over his own coaching staff? Are you calling him a liar??
Save face? Are you serious? Save face on a message board? LOL Duhhh, this isn't about being right or wrong. It can be proven the offense did many things well with BA as OC. It can also be proven they struggled in certain areas at times and had personnel issues. It wasn't simply that he sucked. He was good enough to help this team win a SB. Generally speaking, coaches are only as good as the players they coach. Coaches don't usually make that much of a difference unless their players are good enough. One more thing, a coach that game planned and coached vs Arians hired him as his OC. That suggests that Arians did something right as OC.

Someone was lying in regard to the BA situation. "According to sources inside and outside the organization, Tomlin had told Arians on several occasions since the end of the season that he wanted him to return in 2012 -- once even telling him in front of other coaches. And Arians had told other people, including his assistants, he intended to return in 2012. But, earlier this week, after he returned to his offseason home in Greensboro, Ga., Arians was told his one-year contract would not be renewed -- a decision that appeared to come from someone higher than Tomlin, sources said." The organization also reported that Arians was going to retire. Apparently, that wasn't true. You can take the information for whatever it's worth. I don't believe Tomlin wields a lot of power within the organization. Certainly, not the kind of power Cowher once wielded.

Yeah it was all BA fault that Ben was sacked X amount of times. Forget all the other factors like the fact that the Oline lost players and was decimated by injuries for most of BA's tenor as OC. Forget that Ben had/has a penchant for holding on to long to the ball at times.

The Steelers took advantage of the passing rules. The Oline and Ben's inconsistency play kept the offense from producing points on par with the top scoring offenses in the league.

    All I'm saying is this:

If you have guys who are better at run blocking than pass blocking, it's okay to make the defense be honest against the run instead of predictably forcing the pass...

How much power did Cowher have in his 5th year?

I agree on the BA thing... there weren't many on here willing to defend BA even when it was obvious the players were to blame on certain plays. Anyone saying BA was a total failure or those who didn't hate him are saving face is a little delusional. No one said BA was a genius or in Sean Payton territory but he did put a passing attack in place that put Nate Washington and Limas Sweed in a position to make big money.

The development of our young WR core has been pretty damn impressive under Arians. The biggest problem with BA was in game adjustment and his love affair with Mendenhall.

Too many BA detractors sounded like they were following the crowd when it came to ripping BA. I'm glad he is gone though because now we can see if he really was the reason our offense sucked.

The OL wasn't better at run blocking.. they sucked at that too. Half the time the RB was dodging a guy in the back field... and the the rest of the time he was dancing in the sheets....

Several people have pointed out in this very thread that the Steelers had the highest YpC in 10 years...

Often, Arians seemed to dislike the idea of going with what was working in a game...
