    New 3rd QB Rule

Would we have been better off keeping ARE and naming him our #3 QB on game days?

Should we designate Hines as the #3 so we can dress an extra player?

Just curious how you think teams will use this rule to their advantage.

Add in the new KO rule and you probably don't need to have as many STers active on the game day roster. Do you then activate an extra pass rusher for example to maximize your QB pressure and keep that rotation as fresh as possible?

With the new rules, I could see coaches adjusting their approach on the last 2-3 guys that get hats on gameday.

Could we benefit by not dressing Batch/Dixon, Allen, or Battle on game days?

They have dropped the 3rd QB rule and now any 46 players that the STeelers choose can be active. You don't have to have a 3rd QB, you simply dress 2 and dress an extra player at another position if you wish. So, there is no need to designate anyone "3rd QB" for game day.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Yep, I got that. Just wondering if folks think we'll dress 3 QBs or someone else will take that slot?

With our recent history of injury at QB...and the recent history of the OLine...I think you still need to dress 3

In the past, active gameday rosters have been set at 45 players, but you dress a 3rd "emergency" QB as a 46th player, but could not play him during the first 3 quarters of the game (or else your other 2 QB's were not allowed to re-enter the game again).

Starting this season, active gameday rosters will be set at 46 players. The 46th guy does not have to be a 3rd QB...it can be anyone (a kickoff specialist, a return man, an 8th o-lineman, whatever). If you have 3 QB's among those 46 active guys, any of them can play at any time. Or you can just go with 2 QB's instead and use that extra roster spot elsewhere.

More freedom when doling out helmets on gamedays. Seems like the only new rule that actually makes sense to me.

Presidential locker room talk: Discussing involuntary gynecological exams.

According to the highest office in the country, some "very fine people" marched with torches in a violent protest in Charlottesville, but participating in a non-violent protest on a football field means you are an S.O.B. who should be fired.

Thanx. Yeah that old rule was unnecessarily complex.
