Perspective Requested

NPR - "Vicious hits being penalized by NFL"

NYT - "Harrison, who has a history of blah blah fined for more hits to the head".

WSJ - "After a series of flagrant tackles, the NFL has decided to crack down, blah blah".

San Antonio Express-News - Blah blah, same, blah blah.

Are the people on this forum the only ones who are able to see the hypocrisy of the NFL/Pickle Boy Goodell? That pushing for 18 games to make more money for the owners is not consistent with concern for the health of the players? That (see steelerz-d's post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14173) the NFL is penalizing/moralizing on the one hand, but then profiting by selling pics of Harrison's hit on the other?

Is every news media outlet just publishing the superficial aspect of the story - no one looking even a millimeter below the surface to see the conflict of interest/hypocrisy of the NFL?

    Surely not ... right?

Does anyone else go elsewhere and see things similar to what we've been posting?

    Thanks for the .... PERSPECTIVE.

Here's some perspective for you, Pickle Boy -

    Re: Perspective Requested

It's hypocritical to make an issue out of protecting QBs and WRs instead of protecting RBs who are the guys with the shortest careers and take the worst pounding.

It's hypocritical to have Budweiser as your biggest sponsor, yet have a substance abuse program.

It's hypocritical to produce NFL greatest hit videos yet act like you care about players' health.

It's hypocritical to allow coaches to publically talk about being the more violent team on the field, yet fine players for carrying out coaches plans.

    So it's to be expected....

    Re: Perspective Requested

It’s sanctioned greed that motivates the NFL… Once context is established perspective becomes clear.
