    Why do you think

that other teams seem to get their rookies on the field faster than our Steelers? For example, the Niners are going to start two rookies on their OL (I wanted the guard for us!). Washington will start at least one.

This discussion has been beat to death on this forum.

The long and short of it is teams start rookies when they have a dire need at that position. We rarely have that need.

thats another one. nothing made me more angry than watching a broken down player like haggans play instead of a up and coming stud in woodley. it really doesnt happen often though. ben and woodley are the only ones that come to mind. pouncey will be starting this season at least. wallace played a ton last season too.

I think it shows desperation. I also think that it speaks volumes for just how tough the NFL is. I always laugh when I hear people say things like: "this guys can start from day 1", or "he's NFL read, and can help us win now." Not that all rookies are not ready.....I just think most of them are absolutely lost. Especially this early.

Let most of them cut their teeth on ST's, and come in when their ready.....if that time ever comes.

I dunno if Pouncey is going to start this year. He might during the year. He's listed as 2nd team RG, on the depth chart. The staring line as shown is status quo from last year except for FlozellColon. I would put Foster/Legursky at RG and Pouncey at center now, provided he holds his own against Big Snack. I would be sure to protect the kid from James Madison to see how he looks in year two.

The Niners and Skins haven't been relevant to the football world in this century.

True, the Skins and Niners haven't been relevant, a coupla playoff appearances notwithstanding. But it doesn't mean that a rookie cannot come in and excel. The LT for the Browns is an example. Allpro!

Joe Thomas was picked 3rd overall (ahead of other All-Pros like Adrian Peterson, Patrick Willis, and Darrelle Revis) for a reason.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
