    Per PG:

In addition, rookie tackle Chris Scott, the team's fifth-round draft choice, will also have surgery Wednesday to repair a foot injury he sustained while working out at the University of Tennessee, his alma mater.

It has not been determined how long Scott will be out.

"We will have further information on both once we know the results of each of their surgeries," director of football operations Kevin Colbert said in a statement on the team's website.

I hope he recovers quickly. The Colon injury presents a big opportunity for him to make this team and contribute.

Rookie OT Chris Scott Hurts Foot, to Have Surgery Wednesday

Posted by Matt Loede on June 29th, 2010

Maybe the Steelers should just start the season before everyone gets hurt. A day after they lost Willie Colon for the year, now there’s more bad news on the line, this time about OT Chris Scott.

The team announced today that Scott hurt his foot last week during a training session at the University of Tennessee and will have to have surgery Wednesday.

At this point it’s an unknown if Scott will be able to play this year or not.

“Rookie offensive lineman Chris Scott suffered a foot injury while working out at the University of Tennessee last week,” Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said. “As stated earlier, Willie Colon suffered an Achilles injury while working out on Monday. Both were evaluated by Steelers’ medical personnel today and they are scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. We will have further information regarding both once we know the results of each of their surgeries.”

Scott had recently signed a three-year contract that included a signing bonus just over $140,000.

Scott has a broken foot and will be out until at least October according to the paper this morning.

Guess we have to write this one off to a redshirt season.
