Bills say no to Roethlisberger too

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 21, 2010 2:46 PM ET

The Bills have joined the St. Louis Rams in saying no to a possible trade for Ben Roethlisberger, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Steelers have reportedly contacted the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Browns about Roethlisberger. Other teams may have said no, but it's uncertain who.

Most noteworthy on this list: The Steelers would consider trading Roethlisberger inside the division. That seems far-fetched, but the fact the call was made says everything you need to know about how the Steelers feel about Roethlisberger right now.

Steel Maniac's Time-Based Prediction: Lamar Jackson will be a bust and total flop in the NFL.

What Actually Happened: Lamar Jackson became the youngest two-time NFL MVP winner ever.

Welp there goes another Douchette theory down the drain. The Steelers are actively trying to trade Ben. If it really happens this will go down as one of the biggest blunders in sports history.

Doubtful, he didn't even get us to the playoffs last year, he is a concussion or 2 away from being out of the league, he is gonna have to put up with so much pressure when he does come back that it will more than likely affect his play.....I say bring on Al Davis and the Raiders. Raider fans will love him regardless of the rape allegations. It would be a great comeback story if he was successful before Al dies, but it will be a horrible episode if he comes back and doesnt get us to the playoffs even with a 6 game suspension. I really think a trade to the Raiders would be in Bens best interest.

I am surprised the Bills don't want him. Apparently some teams don't want to have to try and sell Ben as the face of the franchise. You have to think that Al Davis won't care about all the talk.

At this point, I will be happy as long as they trade him out of the division. I will puke if the Rooney's trade Ben to the Stains.
The Steelers’ went through seven consecutive drafts (2003-09) without taking an offensive lineman in the first two rounds, the longest such streak by any franchise this century.

That's ok, we'll let the Rams, Bills and the rest of the teams on that list to continue to SUCK. I mean who in the hell would want a TRUE franchise QB anyway?

As far as I'm concerned the fact that they are entertaining offers tells me it's already the biggest blunder in sports history and it may not even happen.

Raiders enter the Big Ben picture

Posted by Mike Florio on April 21, 2010 3:36 PM ET

Not long ago, there was a belief that the Steelers hadn't ruled out a trade of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in order to scare him regarding the possibility of being traded to Oakland.

Now, he may have good reason to be afraid.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the Steelers have been in contact with the Raiders regarding a possible trade, and that Oakland "[m]ight be [the] only real option."

The Steelers apparently want a top-ten pick for Roethlisberger. If the Raiders won't send the eighth overall selection to Pittsburgh, the next question becomes whether the Steelers would begin to consider taking pick 11, 12, or 13.

The 49ers hold the 13th pick, and Roethlisberger grew up rooting for the team.
