Decision on Roethlisberger Charges Possibly Months Away

Even though investigators have passed their findings from last month's Ben Roethlisberger sexual assault case on to Ocmulgee Judicial Court District Attorney Fred Bright, the possibility remains that, since Bright might decide to seek further information and conduct additional interviews, a decision on whether to file charges against Roethlisberger may not come for months.

That, of course, only serves to exacerbate matters for the Pittsburgh Steelers. If charges, should they even come, be delayed for months, the team would lose their starting quarterback for an extended period of time while not having the opportunity to address the situation through the draft, or even while veteran replacements are available. In other words, the distractions cited in the Arrested Development parody by Benstonium will linger in the foreground, and the ability of the team to knuckle down and focus on the upcoming season will be compromised to some degree

I read somewhere else, even if charges are filed quickly, the grand jury in Georgia doesn't come together again until sometime in July.

Maybe they'll wait to charge until just prior to the Atlanta vs Steelers game this coming season.

Now that I think about it some more, whether charges are made or not, the DA will probably drag this out as much as possible because it is to his own benefit (job security and focus of attention).
