probably because the Steelers are going to sign some expensive free agents this off-season!

Steelers raise ticket prices again

For the fourth time in the past six seasons, the Steelers are raising ticket prices.

Season-ticket holders began receiving invoices today that detailed the price increase. A ticket that cost $85 last season will cost $92 for the 2010 season.

In a letter to ticket holders, the Steelers said the increase was so the team could "continue to meet the challenges of remaining competitive in the National Football League."

Curiously, the two times the Steelers did not raise ticket prices in the past six years was following their Super Bowl championship seasons in 2005 and 2008.

The Steelers also announced that their final preseason game will be played at Heinz Field on Thursday, Sept. 2 against the Carolina Panthers. The rest of the preseason and regular-season schedule will be released at a later date.
