He's had a couple of average seasons (between 80-85%): 23-28 in 2001 and 24-30 in 2008. And he's had three quality seasons (over 85%): 22-25 in 2003, 25-28 in 2004, and 26-29 in 2009.

Reed's been in the league for 8 years (career 83.3%...that's just a hair under 5 percentage points better than Janikowski for his career). He's had what I consider to be poor years (below 80%) twice: 23-32 in 2003 and 20-27 in 2006. He's had a couple of average seasons (between 80-85%): 28-33 in 2004 and 24-29 in 2005. And he's had four quality seasons (over 85%): 17-19 in 2002, 23-25 in 2007, 27-31 in 2008, and 27-31 in 2009. Jeff is 77-87 over the last 3 seasons: that's 88.5%! That is historically good, and for half his games to be played in crappy Heinz Field instead of in a dome or on pristine warm weather grass, that is even more impressive. Yes, Jeff Reed should be back.

So are you saying that he (Reed) should be payed more than Janikowski?

No. I was reacting to Czar's statement that he would not want to break the break for any kicker except maybe Janikowski, since I think Seabass is an average to below average FG kicker in this league. The Raiders are stupid for overpaying Janikowski, and that won't impact what we will be willing to pay Reed (just like we didn't pay Faneca a long term deal for $8 million per year at his age because the Bills and Browns were stupid enough to pay Derrick Dockery and Eric Steinbach long term deals at $7 million per year). We aren't going to overpay Ryan Clark just because the Dolphins stupidly overpaid Gibril Wilson and Yeremiah Bell long term deals at $5 million per year). A contract for Reed averaging around $2.5 million per year would be fair. If we can't get a contract worked out in the next two weeks, give Jeff the transition tag (and Casey the franchise tag).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

    Thanks for clearing that up
