Experts have Steelers as one of favorites to win SB XLV

    http://www.profootballweekly.com/blogs/ ... wl-xlv-too

The Colts, the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV, are also the favorites to capture Super Bowl XLV, according to one Nevada casino group.

MGM Mirage has installed the Colts as 5-1 favorites to win Super Bowl XLV. Yes, one can get already get down a wager on who will win next year's Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

Here's how all 32 teams stack up on the board. I've commented on the teams and odds that caught my eye. Odds are as of Jan. 21:

    Indianapolis Colts (5-1)

    Pittsburgh Steelers (7-1)

    New Orleans Saints (8-1)

    San Diego Chargers (8-1)

Green Bay Packers (10-1) ? I will not be surprised if these odds drop into the single digits; Packers will be a very popular Super Bowl pick in 2010, I'm thinking.

    New England Patriots (10-1)

    Minnesota Vikings (12-1)

Tennessee Titans (15-1) ? Too short a price, in my view; defense took a big step back last season.

Dallas Cowboys (15-1) ? Not a bad price; Cowboys are certainly talented enough.

    Baltimore Ravens (18-1)

Philadelphia Eagles (20-1) ? Reasonable price for a talented team.

New York Jets (20-1) ? Wouldn't be shocked if these odds, dropped, too; Jets have a big following, and they will be a "buzz" team after run to AFC title game.

    Arizona Cardinals (25-1)

    Cincinnati Bengals (30-1)

New York Giants (30-1) ? At these odds, the Giants are very intriguing; why can't they bounce back next season?

    Denver Broncos (30-1)

    Houston Texans (30-1)

    Miami Dolphins (40-1)

    Atlanta Falcons (40-1)

    San Francisco 49ers (45-1)

    Jacksonville Jaguars (45-1)

    Carolina Panthers (50-1)

    Chicago Bears (50-1)

    Washington Redskins (75-1)

    Buffalo Bills (75-1)

    Seattle Seahawks (75-1)

    Cleveland Browns (100-1)

    Kansas City Chiefs (100-1)

    St. Louis Rams (100-1)

    Detroit Lions (125-1)

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers (150-1)

Oakland Raiders (200-1) ? I'm not saying I would bet the Raiders to win the Super Bowl, but for longshot players, they are a much better gamble (relatively speaking) than the Rams at 100-1 or the Lions at 125-1.

There isn't any reason to think the Steelers would not be in it next year until the end. This organization doesn't need more than one year to fix a weakness or make adjustments. No matter what we all say about some decisions...They tend to be the right one down the line.

Browns at 100-1 is interesting. They have money to spend and one of the better O-Line's in the league. If they trade for Kevin Kolb and sign Julius Peppers as some are rumoring, who knows?

Won't happen but it's one of the better long shot bets, IMHO...

Sean Payton in his post SB new conference said something along the lines of "Pretty good for the 24th best team in the NFL".

Which is where Peter King had the Saints ranked at the beginning of the season...

In this case, the experts work for a Vegas casino. Vegas is not in the business of predicting who wins anything (thus, people who chant "disrespect" when a Vegas line is against their team are pretty dumb). They are in the business of finding a number which will get more people betting, and with those bets having a reasonably even distribution, in order to ensure profits for the casino regardless of the actual outcome. Casinos don't lose money, even in a sucky economy like this, so these "experts" likely know what they are doing, when it comes to their line of work.

The Rams' offense featuring weapons such as Marshall Faulk, Torrey Holt, and Isaac Bruce were known as "The Greatest Show on Turf"

The Steelers' offense featuring weapons such as Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant should be known as "The Greatest Show on Grass"

This has nothing at all to do with respective playing surfaces at the Edward Jones Dome vs. Heinz Field.

If Troy can stay healthy then I like our chances. Wallace should be even better next year and I expect Sweed to step up and redeem himself. Once Troy is back in there, I think we'll go back to seeing all of the stops on 3rd down that we were used to in 08 and an end to the 3rd down debacles we cringed at in 09.

Tread carefully when using "when Troy is back"...another 5 threads will start about our $hitty defense.
