Franchise and Transition Tag Amounts for next year

Good info when you think about what you would do? For anyone still stupid enough to think the Rooney's are cheap check out some of the names. We pay our free agents anot someone elses. Thats not cheap, it's smart.

Hopefully it will shine a light of common sense on the free agent acquisition advocates. Top free agents get this kind of money and we aren't paying it. So take that out of your off season plans now, e.g. Cornerback or Safety.

SCI salary cap wizard Ian Whetstone projects the NFL's franchise and transition tag tender amounts for 2010.

I'm just wrapping up the end-of-season updates of my salary cap spreadsheets, so I can now project with better confidence the non-exclusive franchise and transition tag amounts for 2010.
I'll be off on some of these numbers for various reasons, but based on the last couple of years these projections usually wind up being pretty close to the mark.

This is why it sucks to draft in the top 5..

    Jamarcus makes more then Ben?

Reggie Bush makes the most as a RB and the only time I hear his name is when the butt model is mentioned.
I lost a bet about Najee gaining 1300 yards.

"Our head coach has failed to win a playoff game for seven years in a row. His game day strategy, culture of divas, in game decisions, clock management, player evaluation, hires, and affinity with sub par starters at RB, P, and OL are holding the Steelers back. That standard remains the standard"

Thanks for the info. I think the only FAs that we have that would be worth a tag are Casey and Reed.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Colon is the hard issue here. Is he the best OLmen we have and worth $9M per year under a transition tag?

That decision will determine whether OL is on the table for Round 1 or not.

Really, franchising Snack may not be a bad idea. I'm just worried we get an "unmotivated" 7 million dollar man if we do it.

I guess one good thing about the 3-4 defense is it will cheaper to resign Woodley as a LB than a DE.

That's my fear as well. Hampton said he would hold out if they use the Tag on him and would only report if a long term contract could be reached.

Hampton is worth it IMO.. I haven't seen the drop off some people claim to see...
Like Snack said.. he's been in shape, out of shape.. doesn't matter..

oh.. well then we need to back load a contract or let him walk.
