Are we to light in the *ss

I have been given this a little thought about our special teams. It seems that we reach the ball carrier around the 20-25 yard line which is not bad. But we are easily moved out of our lanes. We don't seem to be able to disengage blocks very well. The reason that Harrison and Keisel would be good ST players is that they are not easily moved and are able to disengage blocks. That enables them to either make the tackle or in the very least not create huge running lanes for the ball carrier. I am not in favor of the fast and light approach of a bunch of WR's and CB's on special teams. I like the LB,FB,DL approach of quick but stout players that can disengage blocks. Is there a site that breaksdown what other teams employee on there special teams? Does anyone else agree with my approach to special teams?

Yeah, I def agree. With the more STOUT but still fast players it would be a greater improvement, instead of gettin pushed around out there.

Easier said than done. Keisel's a freak of nature being 295 and still quick, not too many of those guys floating around out there.

For what it was worth Eric Allen stated on ESPN that the Steelers employee a lot of DB's and WR's on the special teams unit. He stated that he sees a lot of "low numerals", and that we need more LB's and TE's on special teams. I agree as i stated in this initial thread. While we are fast we can not disengage blockers and are rode out of lanes it was evident on that return.
